– Fresh off of his career best World of Outlaw finish, Austen Wheatley struggled at the Silver Dollar Speedway as the Washington driver failed to make the feature event and was credited with a 15th place finish in the LCQ after pulling off.
As the track began blowing dust during hot laps, Wheatley and his team went to work to get the King Racing Products/BR Motorsports/Redlined Welding and Construction machine dialed in for qualifying.
Timing in 20th, Wheatley found himself lining up in the fifth spot of his heat race, and after battling his car, Wheatley ended up seventh in his heat, and was slated to run the LCQ.
Starting sixth in the LCQ, Wheatley attempted to utilize the top of the speedway as others were glued to the bottom.
Struggling to gain ground, Wheatley worked to get back into line and work his way to the front of the pack.
To no avail, Wheatley ended up pulling off early, thus ending his night.
“This place wasn’t very racy tonight,” said Wheatley. “When it starts blowing dust in hot laps, it’s a sign it’s going to be a long night, but on the bright side we didn’t tear anything up.”
Austen and his team would like to thank King Race Products, BR Motorsports, The Oil Medics, Wolfweld, Redlined Welding & Construction, Schoenfeld Headers, Astro Titanium, BMRS, Fire-Down Graphics and ButlerBuilt for their support in 2012.
ON TAP: Wheatley will continue to follow the World of Outlaws as they head to the Merced Speedway on Friday night March 30th.
