Austen Wheatley’s Bad Luck Continues

When you are in a funk the most important thing to do is keep your head up, and right now Austen Wheatley in a string of bad luck, but remains positive about it.

“It has to stop soon right?,” said Wheatley.

The young driver was back in action with the World of Outlaws over the weekend with stops at State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, MO and Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt , IN.

Friday night saw Wheatley’s struggle hit early as he battled a few problem much of the night.

The issue proved detrimental early, as the Lake Stevens, WA driver timed in 25th quick, and finished seventh in his heat.

As the team worked to rectify the problem, the narrowly got through the LCQ, and started 24th in the feature.

The problem was finally fixed during the A, and Wheatley was able to work his way up inside the top-15 on the big ½ mile track.

Problem’s continued however, as Wheatley lost a drive shaft on the seventh lap, and his night was over.

“It was unbelievable,” said Wheatley. “Pretty much anything that could of went wrong, went wrong, but my guys worked hard and gave us a chance in the feature.”

Saturday night in Haubstadt, Wheatley’s night got off to another rough start as he timed in 22nd quick.

After finishing eighth in his heat, Wheatley lost a steering gear in the LCQ while running in a transfer spot.

“At this point you just go through everything to see what else may be fatiguing to avoid any more issues like this,” said the frustrated Wheatley. “We’ve changed a bunch the last few weekends so hopefully our luck turns around.”
