ANOTHER DIETRICH IN VICTORY LANE AT LINCOLN

Abbottstown, PA — (April 28, 2012) — His dad won two Lincoln track titles, and his younger brother is the current Lincoln points leader. But it was Billy Dietrich who was joined by Dan and Danny in victory lane after winning Saturday night’s rained-delayed “410” sprint car feature.

The entire night of racing was completed in two hours and 40 minutes after a three-hour rain delay pushed qualifying back to 10 p.m.

“The track was good and starting position was great for us,” said Dietrich upon exiting the family-owned Racers New & Used Auto Parts Warehouse #8 in victory lane, “I need all the advantage I can get.”

A red flag for a flipping Austin Reed on turn two of the opening lap put Billy in fourth for the second attempt to start the race. Polesitter John Rudisill led the first lap before outside front row starter Chad Criswell grabbed the lead on lap two. Dietrich took second from Rudisill on lap three, and then chased Criswell for the next nine laps before Criswell suddenly dove off turn two into the infield while leading on lap 11.

Dietrich’s only challenge after that was from brother Danny, who came from 13th-starting spot to take second from Kevin Nouse on lap 18 and quickly closed on Billy. Danny was on Billy’s back bumper as the leaders maneuvered through lapped traffic on lap 23, but then Danny experienced the same problems as two weeks ago (oil blowing into the cockpit) and faded slightly over the final two laps.

“I took a peak at the board one of them laps, and I saw the 48 was second. That’s good, “added Dietrich, “If it wouldn’t be for him, I wouldn’t be here. He helps us out with set-up, and he’s got a hell-of-a team there. If it would be for that, we’d probably be chasing our tails. He’s a hell-of-a racer.”

Eighth-starting Alan Krimes got by Nouse with five to go and nipped Danny at the line, with 12th-starting Brian Leppo fourth and Nouse holding on for fifth. Sixth through tenth were Brent Marks, Rudisill, Frank Cozze, 21st-starting Jim Siegel, and Brad McClelland

Heats for the 28 “410” Sprinters were won by Nouse, Sam Schlosberg, and Billy Dietrich, with Nick Schlauch, Jr. winning the consolation.

Scott Fisher assumed the lead when polesitter and race-long leader Zach Euculano dropped from the field during a 12th-lap caution and held off a late challenge from rookie Tyler Ross to claim his second career Lincoln win in the 20-lap “358” sprint car feature.

Fisher became the fourth winner in as many races in the 358 sprint division.

Eleventh-starting Cris Eash finished third, with Nathan Berwager and Delco Signs hard-charger Niki Young (who started 20th) completing the top five. Sixth through tenth were Ryan Wilson, Jacob Allen, 18th-starting Austin Hogue, Todd Rittenhouse, Jr., and 21st-starting Tim Berkheimer.

Heats for the 29 “358” Sprinters were won by Euculano, Brian Allman, and Ted Thomas, Jr., with Jeff Rohrbaugh winning the consolation. Rohrbaugh, who entered the show as the points leader, got caught up in a feature crash and was credited with a 24th-place finish.

Chad Glatfelter won a four-car race to the finish to score his first career Lincoln win in the non-stop Central PA Legends feature. Glatfelter became the fifth leader of the race on lap 11 after watching polesitter Scott Haudeshell and Bill Diehl swap the lead several times over the first ten laps. Once in front, Glatfelter led the rest of the way, with Tim Henry crossing second, Diehl third, 18th-starting Jason Rochelle coming on late to finish fourth, and Haudeshell fifth.

Heats for the 21 Central PA Legends were won by Harlon Leppo and Lucas Montgomery.

Next Saturday, May 5th, at 7 PM, Lincoln Speedway will host a World of Outlaw tune-up offering $4,000 to win for the 410 sprint cars, with 358 sprinters and thundercars also on the card. Gates will open at 5 PM.
