Greenville, MS – May 27, 2012 – United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear 2009 Rookie of the Year, Justin Carver from Drummonds, Tennessee drew a four in the K&N Filters Pole Award drawing then, raced from his outside second row starting position into the www.RockAuto.com USCS victory lane in the United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear 7th Annual USCS Sprint Speedweek (2012) mini-series Round #2 at Greenville Speedway on Sunday night. Carver chased early race leader, Derek Hagar from Marion, Arkansas and then Southaven, Mississippi’s Wade Oliver before making the winning pass around Oliver on lap twenty-seven for his third career USCS feature win. Brad Bowden from Hernando, Mississippi followed the hard charging duo to victory lane in the K&N Filters Podium Award third place.
The K&N Filters Pole Position starter Hagar grabbed the lead on the initial start and led the first five laps before a tangle with a lapped car sent him spinning. At that point Wade Oliver took over the point and led the next caution free twenty-one laps. A caution for Ronny Howards 360 spin on the front-stretch re-aligned the field for the final four lap dash. Carver made his winning move past Oliver exiting turn two of the slick ¼ mile Gumbo clay oval and streak home with a four car length lead at the finish line.
The USCS presented by Goodyear National point’s leader, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas who won the USCS Sprint Speedweek 2012 Round #1 event at Riverside International Speedway on Saturday led the next group in sixth place. The defending series Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee followed Crawley in seventh place. The winner of the May 5th, 411 Motor Speedway USCS feature, Jerod Roller from Hernando, Mississippi followed in eighth place. The 2011 I-30 Speedway track Champion, A.G. Rains from West Memphis, Arkansas followed in ninth place and the 2011 Riverside Int. Speedway track Champion, Cody Gardner from Little Rock, Arkansas rounded out the top ten in the main event.
Justin Carver earlier won the first of two USCS presented by Goodyear sprint car B-Main events and Justin Webb also from Drummonds, Tennessee won the second one. The 2008 USCS Rookie of the Year, Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee kicked off the evening’s action with a trip to the www.RockAuto.com victory lane in the six-lap Goodyear Speed Dash. Justin Carver won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. Derek Hagar from Marion, Arkansas won the Butlerbuilt Second Heat. Anthony Nicholson won the Schoenfeld Third Heat race.
For passing the most cars in the main event Tim Crawley who started nineteenth and passed thirteen cars garnered the evenings Wilwood Disc Brakes “Hard Charger” Award. Zack Pringle from Benton, Arkansas, who finished fourth, collected the J.E. Pistons Top Guns award that rotates from first through fifth places. Brad Bowden earned the K&N Filters Podium Award for his third place finish in the A-Main. Anthony Nicholson earned the Keizer Aluminum Wheels top Five Award and Cody Gardner received the DMI/Bulldog Top Ten Award.
The next United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear Outlaw Thunder Tour Speedweek 2012 event is at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, Tennessee for Round #3 on Monday night (5/28). After two days off the mini-series picks up again at Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, Tennessee with Round #4 on Thursday night, May 31st before contesting Rounds #5 and #6 at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi on Friday and Saturday, June 1st and 2nd.
