Peoria, AZ — (June 9, 2012) — Parity continues to be a common theme at the 1/3-mile Canyon Speedway Park clay oval, with three of five different drivers visiting victory lane on Saturday night for the first time this season as the track celebrated its 31st Anniversary.
Dustin Cormany captured top honors in the CSP Challenge Cup Sprint Car ranks, Ricky Thornton, Jr., claimed IMCA Modified honors, Ty Weidner snared his second Pure Stock win of the year, John Romero bested the bombers for the second time and Vince Perez prevailed in Southwest Modlite action.
Cormany captured his first CSP Challenge Cup Sprint Car feature win from the second row outside in front of Matt Lundy, Mike Visser, Lonnie Oliver and Jesse Turner. Cormany became the third different winner in as many Challenge Cup Sprint Car outings at CSP thus far in 2012.
Thornton, Jr., became the fifth different winner in as many IMCA Modified mains at CSP by taking the checkered flag in front of Guy Norton, Bo Partain and sixth row starters Anthony Madrid and Robert Adams.
Ty Weidner raced from the third row outside to snare his third Pure Stock win of the year in front of Steve Bitting, Chris McCurdy, Jr., Joe Vlasity and Marlowe Wrightsman.
John Romero parlayed his front row outside starting position into his second Bomber feature win of the year in front of Don Berner, Patrick Conway, Jr., Nick Langer and Trenton Setelin.
Vince Perez added his name to the Southwest Modlites winners list by crossing the stripe ahead of Mike Ryan, Tony Martin, Fritz Croy and Scott Domine.
