Another great day for racing greeted Craig Dollansky and the rest of the World of Outlaws on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway as the Big Game Treestands #7 team made their second and final stop at the historical track before the prestigious Knoxville Nationals in August.
A vast temperature difference compared to the April event, when Dollansky finished 2nd, saw the mercury soar into the low 90s on Saturday as DJ Lindsey, Luke Dollansky, and Pete Stephens prepared the Aggressive Hydraulics #7 for action among the 42 other competitors. After posting the 8th fastest time in qualifying, Dollansky started second in heat #4 and just miss out on a dash spot by finishing 3rd.
In the 25-lap A-Main the Eaton’s Aeroquip Performance Products Maxim started inside row seven. As the main event got underway, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ used a great start to rocket up to eighth by the second circuit. As track conditions deteriorated significantly, Dollansky lost two positions a few laps later trying to make the highside work and then dropped in line as the field worked the lowside of the track in the rubber groove until a caution on lap 24. Setting up for the green-white-checkered finish, Dollansky again tried to make the highside work on the restart and motored past two cars going into turn 1 but no grip exiting the turn saw the two cars work right back by as the MobileStar #7 finished in 10th.
The Big Game Treestands #7 team will now head North to their shop in Princeton, MN before returning to action next weekend for a pair of races in North Dakota.
