(Chico, CA 7/8/12)…This Friday night the Silver Dollar Speedway will host point race #10 featuring five different divisions of race cars. The 410 winged sprint cars will once again be the main attraction as the Wells Fargo point championship battle between Auburn’s Andy Forsberg and Oroville native Sean Becker is all tied up at 285 points each. Local Chico drivers represent the next three sports as talented Brad Bumgarner is third, Primetime Mason Moore is fourth and Kenny Allen is fifth.
Joining the sprint car mud slingers on this night include the dirt modifieds, street stocks, Limited Late Models and mini stocks. It will be another action packed night that offers great family entertainment at a value price.
The night will be sponsored by two great supports of Silver Dollar Speedway. Cherry St. Mini Storage and Dan’s Roofing have teamed up again to help with the nights festivities. A new addition to the night is led by super fan Ward Habreil of Paradise. His group, AKBuilders, is a men’s group from the Paradise Alliance Church. They will be on hand to help with the nights racing action.
Wells Fargo point championship racing night #10 will take place this Friday night, July 13th. Front gate opens at 6pm with racing set for 7pm. Five divisions will converge at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. Adult general admission is $12.00, seniors and juniors are $10.00 and children being $6.00. Parking, as always, is free during racing events at the speedway.
Forsberg has two track championships (’06 & ’08) compared to Becker’s lone title in 2005. Even though the two are tied this year the stats tell a different story. Becker has won three Friday night 410 main events to Forsberg’s zero. In fact, Becker has 39 career wins at Chico to Forsberg’s 30 wins. Forsberg does have two wins this season at Chico but both were during 360 racing. “There is just something wicked about our #92 car and we just can’t figure it out,” said Forsberg referring to his lack of wins in 410 racing at Chico. “We are competitive just never seem able to get the job done.” Bumgarner and Moore are the dark horses in this championship battle. Moore recently won a main event while Bumgarner has put together a string of recent podium finishes.
Randy McDaniel leads the charge in the dirt modified division. He holds a 10-point advantage over Oreste Gonella. Jeff Olschowka sits in the third spot while rookie Jay Bryant is fourth. Ryan McDaniel holds down the fifth spot but is the hottest driver on the tour posting four main event wins and winning the past three in a row.
Jake Vantol is holding on to a commanding 23-piint lead over Bill Patterson. Both drivers have been to victory lane this season. Third place Shawn Smith, fourth place Richard Workman and fifth spot Mike Slightom are within 12 points of each other.
Randy McDaniel is also leading the Limited Late Model point standings. McDaniel has two wins in four starts. Matt Micheli is only 11-points shy of McDaniel. Charlie Marrs and Ken Micheli are only separated by two points for the third and fourth spot. The General Jerry Bartlett is fifth.
Jason Clayton and Misty Castleberry are tied for the lead in the Mini Stocks. Both Clayton and Castleberry will come into this race with 187 points each. Clayton picked up the win on July 4th. Castleberry had just moved into the lead when she got turned around by another driver. Both drivers are geared up for the big showdown this Friday night. James Foster sits in third and is only four points behind. Fourth place is Shaun Merritt who is one point behind Clayton and five out of the top spot. Sean Perry rounds out the top five.
Come out and enjoy a great night of racing at the speedway. Warm weather is expected. Also, check out the website for any special coupons for this Friday nights race. Visit www.silverdollarspeedway.com
