Humberstone, ON — (July 20, 2012) — Competitors came as near as Port Colborne and as far away as West Virginia and Ohio to race tonight at the speedway. Starting on the front row were a couple of the long haul drivers from Ontario, namely John Watson from St. Thomas and the true definition of the “grizzled veteran”, “the “Joyceville Jet”, Rick Wilson. On the drop of the green flags, it was Wilson with the early lead coming out of turn two with Watson right behind him. These two had a dog fight for the lead for the first half of the race until Wilson spun, bringing out a caution flag. Prior to the Wilson spin, there were two other spins, the first one by Stan Zanchin and the other by former Pro 4 Truck racer Scott Sherk. On the restart for Wilson, the longest hauler of the night, Mark Casella from Weirton, West Virginia, took over the lead and then hold off all challengers for the rest of the run, surviving another two yellow flag periods. At the finish it was Casella for the win, Watson was second and the ageless Dick Mahoney third. Recovering nicely for fourth was Wilson, beating out his daughter April Wilson who wound up fifth. Heat winners were Mike Galadja from Fenton, Michigan and Watson.
