Knoxville, IA — (August 3, 2012) — Following three days of Knoxville Nationals Fan Fair forums in the theater on the second floor of the National Sprint Car Museum, the 42-seat venue will come alive on Saturday, August 11, with several exciting sprint car racing films. Headlining the day’s agenda is Kevin Kjergaard’s video entitled “Doug Wolfgang: His Story,” which is making its public premiere. The best of previous International Reel Wheel Film Festivals will round out the schedule, including Brandon Bingham’s “Knoxville Nationals: Dirt, Sweat & Tears,” Dennis Doornbos’ “Open Road: Inside the National Sprint Tour,” and Sean Buckley’s “Follow the Corn 2: Next Level.”
Museum curator Tom Schmeh said, “Lori DeMoss and I have basically worked with Kevin Kjergaard of KELOland Television since ‘day one’ of the museum project and, to be honest, he took us by surprise recently by offering us this Doug Wolfgang biographical video produced on July 14, 1993, for use in the theater at the Knoxville Nationals this year. It is a very compelling video shot after Doug’s horrific accident in early 1992, including his press conference at the museum in August of that year. We can’t thank Kevin Kjergaard, and 5-time Knoxville Nationals champion Doug Wolfgang himself, enough for allowing us to screen this film.”
The schedule in the theater on Saturday, August 11, is as follows:
10 a.m. – “Doug Wolfgang: His Story” by Kevin Kjergaard (50 minutes)
11 a.m. – “Follow the Corn 2: Next Level” by Sean Buckley (57 minutes)
12 Noon – “Doug Wolfgang: His Story” (encore)
1 p.m. – “Open Road: Inside the National Sprint Tour” by Dennis Doornbos (60 minutes)
2 p.m. – “Doug Wolfgang: His Story” (encore)
