Bloomington, IN — (August 5, 2012) — Racing at his home track of Bloomington Speedway in Indiana, doesn’t add any extra pressure for Kraig Kinser. If anything, it helps him relax, as he has the chance to visit with countless family members and friends that he doesn’t get to see very often due to the extensive World of Outlaws schedule that keeps him on the road. The third-generation driver had the chance to race at Bloomington for the second consecutive year with the World of Outlaws on Friday, August 3, and he finished seventh to earn his seventh-career Top-10 finish at the quarter-mile bullring in eight starts.

“It’s always good to be home,” said Kinser. “I really enjoy getting to see all my family and friends, and people I grew up racing with. Many of them only get to see us race a time or two each year, so it’s great to be able to put on a good show for them. There is no nice place like home.”

Kinser started eighth on Friday night and ran in that position for the early portions of the 40-lap contest, before taking seventh on the 13th circuit. The 27-year-old lined up seventh on the final restart of the night with two laps to go and finished in that same spot, which marked his 33rd Top-10 performance of the season. The feature race was slowed by a red flag on the opening lap and then a yellow with two circuits remaining, which set up a green-white-checker finish.

“We had another consistent run,” said Kinser. “I would have liked to have finished a little further up, but we learned a few things that should help us on some of the smaller tracks later this year. We’ve had a pretty good set-up on the small tracks all year and we’ll keep fine-tuning on that.”

Kinser opened the night at Bloomington as the eighth-fastest driver in qualifying, which put him on the outside of the front row in the first 10-lap heat race, where he finished second to earn a spot in the dash. He started seventh in the dash and came home eighth to line up on the outside of the fourth row for the 40-lap main event.

The Federated Auto Parts Ironman 55 at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 on Saturday, August 4, was postponed by rain, just as the 55-lap main event was set to push, with Kinser starting seventh. The $20,000-to-win event will be completed on Saturday, October 13, when the World of Outlaws return to Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55, for an event which was rained out back in April.

Kinser opened Saturday night by turning the fastest lap in qualifying of the 30 cars that were in attendance, which marked his sixth fast time honor of the season. He started fourth in the first 10-lap heat race and finished fifth to earn a spot in the dash. The 2004 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award winner lined up eighth in the dash and finished seventh, which will put him on the inside of the fourth row for the Ironman 55 when it’s completed on October 13.

Kinser is currently sixth in the World of Outlaws championship standings on the strength of four wins, 33 Top-10 and 17 Top-Five finishes, as he heads into the 52nd Annual Goodyear Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway in Iowa this week.

“We feel pretty good heading to Knoxville this week,” said Kinser. “We’ve had a fast car most of the year and tried a few things at Knoxville earlier this year, so we kind of know what works and what doesn’t work. It’s always a busy week at Knoxville, but a really fun one as well.”
