Grain Valley, MO — (October 15, 2012) — ASCS Warrior Region Sprint Cars final race of the 2012 season will be at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri on Saturday, October 19th. The outcome of this final race will determine the 2012 season point champion. Heading into the action on the 1/3 mile high banked oval, Jonathan Cornell holds a thirty point lead over Kyle Bellm.
Mathematically Bellm still has a chance to win the point title. The 2012 race for the championship began at Valley Speedway on April 13th when Cornell claimed the feature win and ended the night twenty points ahead of Bellm to begin the season.
The two young drivers have battled for position all through the year with Cornell leading points through the majority of the season. Bellm to the top spot in late summer only to relinquish it back to Cornell at the end of September.
Heading into the Valley race Cornell has visited victory lane four time this year. His first victory was the season opener in Grain Valley. Bellm has also been in the winner’s circle in 2012 at Double X Speedway in California, MO.
Last season NASCAR champion Tony Stewart came to race with the ASCS Warriors while in town. There is the possibility that a couple of the teams will see racing action again while in town At Valley Speedway during this event.
You will see the best of Sprint car racing with the ASCS Warior region teams racing with their wings and the Valley Sprints running support calss without a wing Friday October 20th then you will see some of the ASCS teams take off their wings and stay to challange the Valley Sprints Saturday October 21st.
The battle just won’t be with these two drivers. A full field of sprint cars are expected to compete in the 25 lap feature event. ASCS racing action is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. with hot laps on Friday and hot laps will begin at 5:30 on Saturday for the Valley Speedway Fast Fall Series.
