West Memphis, AR – November 4, 2012 – The USCS Fall Nationals 2012 presented
by Goodyear “Flip Flop 50” season finale for the United Sprint Car Series
winged sprint cars at historic Riverside Speedway on Sunday again produced
two different winners. 2006 USCS Rookie of the Year, Derek Hagar from nearby
Marion, Arkansas started from the K&N Filters Pole Position in front of the
talent-laden field and charged into the lead and turn one and never looked
back in route to the www.rockauto.com USCS Victory Lane in the first 25-lap
contest to place himself in position to collect a $5000 bonus if he could
win the second fully inverted 25-lap contest starting from the rear of the
field.
2012 sprint car Rookie driver Brandon Hanks from Burlison, Tennessee started
outside the front orw and led a group of mostly young drivers to the
www.rockauto.com USCS victory lane in the second fully inverted 25-lap main
event. Hagar managed to advance from the rear of the field back to tenth
place at the finish in the second feature race to garner the Wilwood Disc
Brake Hardcharger Award. .

Speedway results:
On Sunday afternoon, young gun Dalton Davis from Millington, Tennessee
advanced to the first Flip Flop 50 A-Main by winning the Engler Machine and
Tool First B-Main event. The 2010 USCS National Rookie of the Year and only
female driver in the field, Morgan Turpen from Cordova, Tennessee won the
Goodyear Racing Tire 12-lap Second B-Main contest that would set the final
eight positions in the 22 car field field for the first 25-lap Flip Flop 50
main event. Ronny Howard from Nesbit, Mississippi was added to the field in
twenty-third position as a provisional starter to set the field with 23 cars
for the feature race finals.
USCS Flip Flop 50 – Main Event Number One:
After collecting the most passing points on Friday evening in his heat race
and winning the K&N Filters Pole Scramble on Friday night, Derek Hagar from
Marion, Arkansas started from the K&N Filters Pole Position in the first
25-lap USCS presented by Goodyear “Flip Flop 50” main event. Hagar was the
winner in the first half of the 2010 version of the USCS “Flip Flop 50,
Sunday’s first feature race started straight-up from the finish of the K&N
Filters Pole Scramble on Friday night. Zack Pringle started outside of Hagar
in the front row. Ten-time USCS National Champion Terry Gray from Bartlett,
Tennessee started inside the second row with current National point’s leader
and 15-time 2012 USCS feature winner, Tim Crawley from Benton Arkansas
started outside of the second row.
On the start of the race, Hagar charged past Zack Pringle into the lead in
turn one. He then had to repeat that move after Brad Bowden’s loop in turn
three on the first lap created a complete re-start. Hagar streak away to
lead the entire 25-laps after cautions for other incidents brought the field
onto his rear bumper during two more caution periods. After Pringle fell out
on lap two with mechanical issues. Tim Crawley charged from his fourth place
starting position past Terry Gray into the runner-up spot. Crawley then
chased Hagar the balance of the race, but, could not create a passing
opportunity and followed Hagar to the www.rockauto.com USCS victory lane.
Former USCS series Champion Marshall Skinner from Marion, Arkansas raced
from seventh starting position to finish in the K&N Filters Podium Award
third place. 2008 USCS Rookie of the Year and a Friday night heat race
winner, Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee advanced from a sixth
place start to finish in fourth place. Terry Gray rounded out the top five
finishers.
The next group of finishers included Joey Moughan from Springfield, Illinois
in sixth place followed by 2009 USCS Rookie of the Year, Justin Carver in
seventh place. The Engler Machine and Tool First B-Main winner, Dalton Davis
from Millington, Tennessee finished in eighth place. 2010 USCS Mid South
regional serie Rookie of the Year and two-time 2012 feature winner, Jerod
Roller from Olive Branch, Mississippi finished in ninth place and young gun
Casey Rowland from Nesbit, Mississippi rounded out the top ten finishers in
the first “Flip Flop 50” A-Main event. Dalton Davis garnered Wilwood Disc
Brakes Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars (seven) in main event
number one.

Sunday’s USCS Flip Flop 50 – Main Event Number Two:
Rookie driver Brandon Hanks from Burlison, Tennessee charged from his
outside front row starting position into the www.RockAuto.com USCS victory
lane 25-laps later in the second fully inverted half of twin main events in
the USCS Fall Nationals “Flip Flop 50” event for winged sprint cars. It was
the young driver’s first-ever United Sprint Car Series win. A $2500 paycheck
accompanied his victory at the historic ¼ mile Gumbo clay oval.
2012 USCS presented by Goodyear Rookie of the Year, Jeff Willingham from
Ripley, Mississippi started from the K&N Filters Pole Position and led the
field into turn one. When the field of 23 cars reached turn three on lap one
Willingham and the cars of young gun Dalton Davis and past series Champion,
Eddie Gallagher from Piperton, Tennessee tangled and brought out the caution
for a complete re-start. Davis and Gallagher left the track unable to
return. Willingham re-fired at the rear of the field.
On the re-start Hanks and another rookie driver, Howard Moore from Memphis,
Tennessee led the firld to the green flag. Hanks won the contest for the
lead into turn one and never looked back with the hammer down all of the way
to the finish line.. Howard Moore looked just as impressive in only his
eighth 360 sprint car start of his first season and chased Hanks the entire
distance from close range to race home in the runner-up spot. Another young
gun, Casey Rowland from Nesbit, Mississippi charged his way from outside the
fifth row past veteran Ronny Howard also from Nesbit, Mississippi into third
place on lap twenty-four to finish in the K&N Filters Podium Award third
place at he finish. Howard who lost a cylinder while running in second place
earlier in the race finished in fourth place and Curt Terrell from Bartlett,
Tennessee had a career best USCS finish in fifth place.
Another young driver, Justin Webb from Drummonds, Tennessee led the next
group to the finish line in sixth position in the second main event. Tim
Crawley who clinched his first USCS National Championship at the event
followed in seventh place. Another 2012 rookie 360 sprint car driver, Blake
Hahn from Tulsa, Oklahoma finished in eighth place. Hahn swept the weekend
in the www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series with a win on both Friday
and Sunday nights. The 2010 USCS Mid South regional series Rookie of the
Year, finished ninth in this second feature race. Derek Hagar from Marion,
Arkansas who won the earlier Flip Flop 50 feature race number one, rounded
out the top ten drivers in the final USCS presented by Goodyear sprint main
event of the 2012 season. Hagar who started dead-last in the field in the
second main event was competing for a $5000 bonus if he could win the second
25-lap race as well.
