Tulsa, OK — (February 4, 2013) — A longtime supporter of the American Sprint Car Series, whether by contingencies or drivers sponsorship, Smiley’s Racing Products has been named the title sponsor of the ASCS Lone Star Region.
Supported over the past several years by Bill Jewell of The Oil Medics, it was the decision of Mr. Jewell to step away as his grandchildren have begun on the path to dirt track racing.
Aside from the region, The Oil Medics also provided sponsorships for over 20 drivers in 2012 as well as events in, and around, the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and is a continuing supporter of TBJ Promotions, which field events for the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV American Real.
“We are grateful for the years of support from the Oil Medics,” said ASCS National Coordinator Matt Ward.” Bill was always willing to help us and I know will continue to help our drivers both regionally and nationally.”
With Smiley’s Racing Products stepping into the fold, the Lone Star Region will again enjoy an expanded point’s fund, which includes support from Hoosier Tire. Asked about Smiley’s coming on board, ASCS founder Emmett Hahn replied, “Just like Bill, it seems like Tom and everyone at Smiley’s goes out of their way to make sure the drivers are taken care of. I’m glad to have them be a part of ASCS.”
A supporter of drivers throughout the nation, Smiley’s Racing Products has five locations throughout Texas and into Oklahoma, dealing in parts from Sprint Cars to Street Stocks.
Chuckling when asked about the years working with Emmett Han and ASCS, Smiley’s owner Tom Lorenz said, “It’s been a lot of fun working with Emmett Hahn, whether it’s racing or golfing. I look forward to the day when I can beat him in at least one round of Golf.”
“Seriously though, we’ve supported ASCS since they came on board with Hoosier. We were already big supporters of the Gulf South Region, while working with Keith Johnson, since they began and we’re glad to add the Lone Star Region for the 2013 season.”
The Smiley’s Racing Products ASCS Lone Star Region will begin its 2013 season on Saturday, Mar. 16 at Kennedale Speedway Park and will be headed by Andy Rea for the 2013 duration. Andy can be reached at 817-844-0254 or by email to offthewallgraphixs@gmail.com .
The 2013 season marks the twenty-second year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, which brings the best of Sprint Car racing to dozens of different tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series, ASCS also consists of nine different Regions throughout the nation.
