Lebanon, IN — (March 4, 2013) — Tony Hunt is bringing his ebay Motors pavement sprint car program east on Sunday April 14 to compete in the Glen Niebel Classic Mel Kenyon 100, the opening round of the Sprint Car Challenge Series Built by the UAW. Hunt sat on the pole of the 2012 Pay Less Little 500 and has rung up 10 USAC championships during his career.
“We are really looking forward to the Niebel race. I ran it several years ago with another team. So coming back to run it with our program is exciting,” Hunt explained. He continued, “We really like racing at Anderson Speedway and to come back here early in the season is fun. It’s a great event o further prepare us for the Pay Less Little 500 in May.”
When Hunt pulls onto the high banks of Anderson Speedway he will find a built in fan base with the men and women of the UAW. His sprinter is powered by a Schwanke stock block Chevrolet engine based on the LS7 engine produced by the UAW Local 653’s skilled work force at the GM Performance Build Center in Wixom, MI. Like its street based cousin, the engine also features electronic fuel injection, giving Hunt crisp throttle response and excellent drivability.
The USSA Mel Kenyon Midget Series drivers will also open their racing season as a part of the Glen Niebel Classic 100 event. The Anderson Speedway gates for the Glen Niebel Classic will open at noon Sunday April 14 with racing scheduled for 2:00 PM. Prior to the green flag flying, Anderson Speedway will host a Fan Appreciation Autograph Session in the Pavilion behind the main grand stand.
