SYRACUSE, NY – It’s been a long seven months since we crowned our Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprint champion Chuck Hebing. This Friday night the 30th Anniversary Tour and the quest for the 2013 championship begins at the Can-AmMotorsportsPark.
For the third year in a row, the full point season begins at the North Country half-mile. A field of over 30 sprints are expected for the important stop which also kicks off the Today’s Options Stars and Stripes Tour and the SUNY Canton Series as well.
Hebing will be looking for the three-peat. Only Mike Woodring and Mal Lane have accomplished that feat in the 30 year history of ESS. But, the challengers will be a virtual who’s who. Three-time champion Steve Poirier is back fulltime after his knee injury and he will be trying for title number four, Lance Yonge will be looking for his third ESS title and Justin Barger will be vying for title number two.
The list doesn’t stop there, Shawn Donath, Paul Kinney, Michael Parent, Cory Sparks, Jeff Cook, Matt Tanner, Jason Barney, Mike Stelter, Patrick Vigneault, Kevin Ward Jr., Joe Trenca, Paul Habeck, Dylan Swiernik and others will have hopes of doing the full tour in 2013.
In the Can-Am pits and will be seeing many times throughout the season will be Bryan Howland, Sammy Reakes IV, who is defending Can-Am opener champion, Alain Bergeron, Tyler Rand, Etienne Girard, Doug Emery, Tommy Wickham, Kyle Dutcher, Dave Axton, Vinnie Vitale, Steve Hutchinson and Zach Weigand.
Joining us for the opener and making ESS starts throughout the season will be Paul Pekkonen, Chris Jones, Martin Roy, Dale Gosselin, April Wilson and other surprises.
Car Mate Custom Built Trailers will be bringing you the heats, Grampa’s Garage Appraisals is the Cobra Coaches Dash Series sponsor, the B-Main all leading up to the 25 lap A-Main for the Can-Am gold.
Friday night is the date, Can-AmMotorsportsPark is the site…It’s the 30th Anniversary Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprint opener and it will be excitement guaranteed!!
