Holly, MI — (April 24, 2013) — Jimmy “The Bulldog” McCune just might be the busiest man when the Xtreme Speed Challenge unfolds May 19 at Winchester Speedway. McCune plans on competing in both the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint and Supermodified features. With a nickname like “Bulldog”, it seems only fitting that he would be the driver to attempt such a rigorous Sunday afternoon.

Racing runs in McCune’s veins. He is a third generation driver following in his father and grandfather’s footsteps. His grandfather, “Irish” Jim McCune, was a standout IMCA sprint car star in the 1960’s.

The younger McCune is quickly making a name for himself in the pavement print car world. He has several victories with a handful of sanctions including the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series (MSRXSS). He is currently tied for the lead on the all-time MSRXSS career feature win list with five victories.

When it comes to Supermodifieds, McCune is a rookie by all accounts. By the time May 19 rolls around, McCune will have made only three career Supermodified starts. McCune doesn’t think it will be an issue during the Xtreme Speed Challenge since he has a ton of laps at Winchester in sprint cars and midgets.

McCune was asked what he thinks it will be like competing in a super at Winchester May 19. “I honestly don’t know. But it should be wild” explains McCune.”The two cars are considerably different to drive. You can’t manhandle the super like you can the sprint car. The sprint car you can run a lot looser”.

McCune’s first-ever Must See Supermodified start resulted in a second place finish at Anderson Speedway last October during the MSRSMS finale. McCune drove a splendid race and came alive late in the 100 lap event. McCune charged to the front ultimately running out of laps in his bid for the win.

The Toledo, OH resident will be aboard the Don Wilshe owned BIOBASED.US Supermodified in 2013. In addition to trying to capture the 2nd annual Xtreme Speed Challenge, McCune has his sights on the 2013 MSRSMS title.

With all things considered in regards to being a “rookie”, McCune has the laps and equipment to get the job done at the Xtreme Speed Challenge May 19. Don’t be surprised if McCune is hoisting two trophies at the conclusion of the Xtreme Speed Challenge.
