From Must See Racing
Holly, MI — (April 25, 2013) — Tampa, Florida driver, Troy DeCaire, is on a hot streak of sorts when it comes to competing at the famed high banked Winchester Speedway. He has won the last two Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series (MSRXSS) events there. Some are consid-ering DeCaire the favorite to win the 2nd annual Xtreme Speed Challenge when the MSRXSS returns to Winchester Speedway May 19.
DeCaire is a two-time MSRXSS champion having accomplished this feat in 2010 and 2011. DeCaire missed out on a three-peat last season after only making nine starts due to the lack of a full-time ride.
The former Must See champion enjoys competing at Winchester Speedway.”It’s one of those places you either love or hate” explains DeCaire. “I guess I love it.” DeCaire attributes his Winchester success more to his driving style rather than luck.”I haven’t had good luck there. I’ve been there five times with three different car owners. I have two wins, two seconds, and a DNF where I was leading. Funny thing is I’ve won the heat race every time I’ve been there. My two wins last year I attribute it to my driving style more than anything. It just suits that track”.
DeCaire is quick to point out that Must See Racing has been good for his career and is putting pavement sprint cars on the radar.”Must See racing is bringing light to pavement sprint cars. We were kinda the odd balls of sprint car racing before Must See Racing came along. I’ve been noticed because of the series. The exposure that Must See president Jim Hanks gives us is really good. We have television exposure and better purses. People now know what we are doing is real racing as far as the winged pavement sprint car stuff”.
Could another MSRXSS championship for DeCaire be in the works? DeCaire likes his chances now that he is driving for Davey Hamilton Racing in a group effort along with veteran car owners George Rudolph and Dick Fieler.”Its a pretty good group. If it wasn’t for George (Rudolph), nobody would know that I could drive a sprint car. He took a chance on me early in my career. Dick Fieler is an interesting guy. He didn’t miss a Formula One race in an eight-year span. He was on a team in Brazil and did some pretty neat things in F-1. And Davey Hamilton is the greatest supermodified driver to ever live. I’ve got a lot of knowledge and money behind me. I kinda feel like I got one up on everybody” concludes DeCaire.
If DeCaire is indeed able to claim the 2nd annual Xtreme Speed Challenge, it would give him three MSRXSS Winchester wins in-a-row and boost him for a tie on the all-time MSRXSS win list with five career victories.
