ANDERSON, Ind. (May 19, 2013) – Pay Less Little 500 week kicks off on Monday, May 20 at Anderson Speedway with a double header featuring the Must See Racing Supermodified Series and International Outlaw Figure 8 Series (IOFS).
The MSR Supermodifieds will be making their second appearance at the quarter-mile oval in the short history of the series. Last October, when it appeared Kyle Edwards was going to settle for a second place finish, leader Charlie Schultz tangled with a lapped car with 22 laps remaining.
Schultz dominated the first 78 laps of the event and looked like he was leaving with the trophy. Schultz made contact with the lapped car of Don Johnson on the front straight, getting slightly airborne and rolling to a stop in the infield with suspension damage.
That gave Edwards, running a distant second at the time the lead and put Jimmy McCune back on the lead lap for the restart. From there Edwards pulled away to win by 2.5-seconds over McCune followed by Bandon Fisher, Sondi Eden and Jon Henes.
The MSR Supermodifieds made their season debut on Sunday, May 19 at Winchester Speedway with Dave McKnight earning the victory over Mike McVetta followed by Jimmy McCune, Kyle Edwards, and Brian Gingrass rounding out the top five.
Monday’s event will be the first of four appearances of the IOFS at Anderson Speedway in 2013. The additional dates will be announced in the coming days. The National Crown is included as one of the expected dates that will be announced.
Due to the extra media attention surrounding this event, a strong field of drivers is expected to participate. Expected entrants include: Eddie Van Meter, Ben Tunny, Charlie Hargraves, Nick Moore, Manny Aguilar, Curtis Chapman, Richard Dickens, Chuckie Hargraves, Chris Green, Doug Greig, Dane Laster, Preston Maxwell, Mike Riddle Jr., Jeff Shackleford, Jeff Swinford, and Larry Swinford among others.
WWW.XSAN.TV will stream the event live across the world as a Pay Per View event. The PPV will be a high-quality production with an announcing crew and multi-cameras. This will be a great way for IOFS fans to catch the event if they are unable to attend. The PPV is only $19.95 and can be ordered the day of the event by going to WWW.XSAN.TV and purchasing a one day ticket. The Must See Racing Supermodified Series portion of the night’s racing action will also be included in the PPV.
Eddie Van Meter is the most recent IOFS winner after he picked up the IOFS Southern Figure 8 World Finals at Showtime Speedway in Pinnelas Park, Fla. in February. Van Meter is currently one of the hottest Figure 8 drivers in the country entering the May 20 event at Anderson. In addition to his Florida win, Van Meter claimed last season’s IOFS National Crown and won most recently at the Indianapolis Speedrome on May 4.
Pit gates open at 2:30 p.m. on Monday May 20. Practice will begin at 4:45 with racing set to begin at 8. Admission is $15 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.
