Sun Prairie, Wis., May 22—One of the larger fields in recent years is excepted for this weekends The Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget Series and Stark Automotive Group/Mid-State Equipment Badger Midget Series Doubleheader at Angell Park Speedway on Saturday and Sunday Nights May 25-26.
The “11th annual Sue Thiel Memorial” has moved to APS for the first time, also appearing with the midgets will be the Badger 600 Micro Series, along with the Illini Racing Series. Saturday Night’s event will pay $2,000 to win, with the first place prize on Sunday doubling to $4,000. Saturday’s event will honor Danni Jo Thiel, with Sunday’s event celebrating the life of Sue Thiel.
Three-time Badger Champion Brad Kuhn driving for RAB Racing holds a twelve point lead over Travis Berryhill after three events. POWRi has also completed three events this year with Andrew Felker leading Zach Daum. Felker and Daum finished second in last week’s event at the track. A large contingent of POWRi cars have entered the event.
New Zealand’s Michael Pickens and Brad Mosen will begin their US racing schedule with doubleheader. Alex Bright winner of last week’s ARDC event at Potomac (Md.) Speedway will also be competing in the event. Grandstands open at 4:30 p.m., with practice at 6:00 p.m., racing to follow.
