– TULSA, Okla. (May 27, 2013) The Hinchman Racewear Eagle Nationals has been an ongoing tradition of Nebraska Sprint Car racing since 1981 with Sammy Swindell taking the inaugural checkered flag.
Switching hands to become a part of the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV American Real in 2010, Danny Wood took the prelim honors on June 11 while Jason Johnson took the finale on June 12.
Among the races promoted by Tony Bruce, Jr. and his company TBJ Promotions, the 2013 edition of the coveted event will feature a single night format on Saturday, June 1 with a winner’s check that totals $5,000.
One of only a trio of tracks that has hosed the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV American Real in the state of Nebraska, the tracks in the “Corn Husker State” have been at Eagle Raceway (5), I-80 Speedway (8), and the Pawnee Speedway (1).
A quick look at the past winners of the Eagle National while sanctioned with the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV American Real shows four winners with the aforementioned Danny Wood and Jason Johnson winning in 2010
Jack Dover was the victor on June 11, 2011 with Brady Bacon sweeping the event in 2012 on Friday, June 8 and Saturday, June 9.
Paring the Saturday night with the Speedway Motors Midwest Region of the ASCS Nation, the competition level will be staggering as current regional points leader enters the weekend with back-to-back ASCS victories, including the $4,000 prize at the 5th annual Steve King Memorial this past Saturday.
In an interview released by Inside Line Promotions, the 2011 champion of the event described the Eagle Nationals, and it’s host facility, as being among his favorite, ““It’s one of my favorite races and is at one of my favorite tracks,” Dover said. “It’s always an exciting show with a ton of slide jobs and passing. The competition is always tough so if you can run well at the Eagle Nationals, you’ve done well.”
