Sarver, PA — (June 12, 2013) — Holiday Races with Fireworks on #1 Cochran Fan Appreciation Night has long been one of the most popular and well attended Fab Four Races on the Lernerville schedule. With forecasted temps of upper 70s and mostly sunny on Friday evening, this year’s Holiday Races promise to live up to that tradition and Thursday’s forecasted rain should provide another fast, tacky Action Track!
The Precise Racing Products DIRTcar Late Models will start the show, due to the long-standing relationship between #1 Cochran and Late Model legend Lynn Geisler. Geisler spends more Friday Nights in the car owner role than as a driver these days and last Friday marked the first time someone else drove the #1 Cochran Super Late Model into Sheetz Victory Lane. Mike Pegher Jr. has been splitting time behind the wheel with Geisler both at Lernerville Friday Nights and at PPMS on Saturday Nights. And while he won in the car at PPMS last summer and had 14 previous Lernerville wins in Pure Stocks and Crate Late Models, last Friday was the first time Pegher sealed the deal in the Super Late Model; holding a furious charge by Defending Track Champion Jared Miley. Miley raced him hard and clean, but his only pass for the lead was nullified by a caution.
John Garvin Jr. leads the Precise Late Model division in the Budweiser Point standings over Miley by just seven points. Former Three-Time Track Champion Alex Ferree is just 10 points behind Miley in third. Michael Norris is fourth and Dan Angelicchio is fifth in points heading into Friday Night’s Holiday Races. With the 7th Annual Firecracker 100 presented by www.GottaRace.com just two short weeks away and some open dates on the World of Outlaws Late Model schedule, don’t be surprised to see a few big names pop into the Action Track for a Firecracker tune-up these next few weeks.
The closest race in the Bud Points continues to be in the Peoples TWP Sprints where Brandon Spithaler continues to lead the title chase over Jack Sodeman Jr., Eric Williams and Brandon Matus. These top four drivers are separated by a total of just 18 points and Carl Bowser sits in fifth 21 points behind Matus. All Time division wins leader Ed Lynch Jr. showed “the boys” the way to Sheetz Victory Lane last Friday, but all five kept Lynch in sight and chased him to the checkers in positions two through six.
Mat Williamson seemed primed to score his fourth feature win of the season when a late race caution wiped out Rex King Jr.’s lead after an impressive run through lapped traffic. But despite the green-white-checkered restart, King held off Williamson to score his first Lernerville feature win. Williamson’s second place finish tied his season WORST finish of the season and finishing all five Diehl Mods features in the top two positions has him firmly atop the Budweiser Point standings. Williamson holds a 24-point lead over Dave Murdick, while Rex King Sr. and Brian Swartzlander are just 14 and 15 points behind Murdick. Jeremiah Shingledecker rides in fifth, 47 points behind Williamson.
Corey McPherson also enjoys a comfortable lead with two feature wins and five top five finishes. AJ Flick chipped away at McPherson’s lead by maxing out at 40 points by winning his heat and feature. Flick actually leads all Fab Four drivers with four heat race wins in five Fast Fridays. McPherson leads Flick by 21 markers and All Time divisions wins leader and multiple-time Track Champion Joe Kelley is just five points behind Flick. Brett McDonald and Mike Miller round out the top five in the Pic-A-Part Sportsman.
All four divisions will be in action this Friday Night and our friends from #1 Cochran will help light up the sky with a thrilling fireworks show on Fan Appreciation Night. Regular Fab Four pricing applies at just $14 for adults, $10 for seniors, $7 for students and as always, kids 10 & under are FREE into general admission!
After being rained out for its originally scheduled debut, the Turner’s Premium Iced TeaBird will be on hand Friday Night for sampling of Turner’s Premium Iced Teas before the races and to pace the features alongside the #1 Cochran Ram Pace Truck during the races. We’ll also be raffling off TeaBird ridealongs, Turner’s hats & tee-shirts and tickets to the Turner Dairy Farm’s skybox. Stop and sample your favorite Turner’s Premium Iced Tea at the TeaBird outside the main gates before the race and just inside the gates beside the press box during heat race action for details about entering the prize raffles.
Next Friday Night is Fab Four Racing Mid-Season Championships as all four divisions will be racing with some extra incentives as the Peoples TWP Sprints will be racing for a Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup provisional, the Diehl Mods for a provisional starting spot in the A-Main of the Steel City Stampede, the Pic-A-Part Sportsman for a guaranteed spot in the Autumn-Motive Fest 2013 Sportsman/Stock Spectacular and the Precise Late Models will be fighting for the first track provisional, (the second going to the Budweiser Points leader after the Mid-Season Championships), for the fast approaching 7th Annual Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com on Thursday-Friday-Saturday, June 27-28-29.
