Manitowoc, WI — (June 14, 2013) — Warm weather and sunshine greeted fans and drivers as they pulled into the Manitowoc County Expo grounds for Sponsorship Appreciation Night. With a Dash scheduled for Sprint Challenge Series Night and Coors Light Hard Charger Night, there was sure to be some interesting action on the track throughout the evening.
44B Brian Johnson sat on the pole of the Sprintcar feature, with 15M Justin Miller outside, 21T tJ Luedke and 99 Kyle Marten covered the second row. Coming to green, Millers car did not take off, causing a jam behind them and requiring a complete restart, which moved the outside row forward by rule, putting Marten on the outside pole. Marten moved out front on the green, taking the early lead, with Luedke and Scotty Thiel in 64 making up the top 3. Yellow flew on Lap 3 as Johnson spun in turn 4, setting up a restart order of Marten, Thiel, Luedke, 25 Danny Schlafer, and 35 Ben Schmidt. The pace picked up quickly as Marten began lapping cars, and Schmidt, Thiel, and Schlaffer putting on a show behind him battling for 2nd. At halfway Marten had the field covered, Thiel, Schmidt, Schlaffer, and 21H Tim Haddy. The laps ticked off quickly as the leaders lapped over half the field running high and low. Crossing under checkers it was Marten taking his first win of the season, Schmidt, Thiel, Danny Schlaffer, Haddy, and 6K Kurt Davis rounding out the top 6. Hard charger honors went to 24 Scott Conger (Eagle) picking up 8 spots.
