SCHATZ LEADS J&J’S TO SPRINT CAR VICTORY LANE

From J&J
McKENZIE, TN – J&J Auto Racing drivers put on some strong performances this past weekend at dirt tracks across the country. Donny Schatz led the victory brigade by sweeping the World of Outlaws (WoO) STP Sprint Car events at Jackson and Knoxville, while his boss Tony Stewart scored a thrilling win in IRA action. Eric Williams led a top-five J&J sweep at Lernerville, while Robbie Stillwaggon showed the way in URC action. Shane Morgan and Jared Horstman were also J&J winners.
WORLD OF OUTLAWS
Donny Schatz started the weekend with a solid run at Jackson (Minn.) Speedway in the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) No. 15 STP/Armor All/Chevrolet Performance J&J. The five-time and reigning WoO champion started fifth in the 30-lap A-Feature and drove his way into the lead on lap 13 and then again on lap 15. He would lead the final 15 laps on his way to his sixth win of the season and second career Outlaw win at the half-mile dirt oval.
The following night it was back to Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway for the Outlaws second visit of the season. Just like the first stop in May, it was Donny Schatz coming out victorious. He started second and took the lead on lap 15. He would stay out front the rest of the way and score his 17th career win at Knoxville.
David Gravel qualified raced the No. 6 J&J from 11th to seventh in the 25-lap A-Feature.
IRA SPRINTS
Tony Stewart added a Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint victory to his list of accomplishments Saturday with a thrilling victory at Plymouth (Wisc.) Dirt Track. Stewart raced his No. 14 Chevrolet Performance/Mobil 1 J&J from the eighth and was into the top-five by lap seven. After a lap nine restart, Stewart was in third and  one lap later, he was in second. He took the lead on lap 17. The final five laps, he and Billy Balog exchanged the lead in nearly every corner. Stewart would fend off the final two challenges and score the popular win.
URC – GRANDVIEW
Robby Stillwaggon used a last lap pass to score last weekend’s United Racing Company (URC) Sprint car event at Grandview Speedway in Pennsylvania. Stillwaggon started the No. 89 J&J ninth and caught leader Troy Betts on the final lap to pick up his second Rislone URC Sprint series win of the season.
Josh Weller (No. 63 J&J) finished third and Randy West raced Fred Kennedy’s No. 56 from 19th to eighth and earned the hard charger award.
LERNERVILLE SPEEDWAY
Eric Williams used a lap seven restart to take the lead from fellow J&J racer Carl Bowser (No. 10 J&J) and fought off several challenges from Bowser during the 30-lap feature. Red flags on lap 22 and 25 made it tougher on Williams, but he prevailed and went on to win his first main event of the year. Bowser was second ahead of Brandon Spithaler (No. 22 J&J), Daryl Stimeling (No. 30 J&J) and Scott Priester (No. 11x J&J).
LIMALAND MOTORSPORTS PARK
Jared Horstman was victorious last week at the high-banked, quarter-mile at Limaland Motorsports Park and made it two in row this past weekend. He drove his No. 17 J&J around the high side and was able to grab the lead on lap 20 of the 25-lap feature event. Hortsman would lead the final five laps to win the main event.
“It’s great to make it two in a row,” said the excited Horstman afterwards. “Definitely the lapped traffic played into my hands tonight. Hats off to Randy (Hannagan) and Darren (Long), they both run it hard and I’m just glad to be a part of this. I love being up top and my car really came in for me and it all worked out.”
