Defending USAC DMA Midget Champion Kevin Chaffee returns to Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, Vt. July 13 with a 19-point lead over former champion Joe Krawiec in the 2013 standings. They finished second and seventh respectively in last night’s 25-lap feature.
Five USAC DMA Midget races in the books at Bear Ridge show five different winners with last Saturday’s going to a rookie and one of the youngest drivers in the field at just 15 years on Bond Auto Parts night.
Dylan Duhaime of Loudon N.H., started on the outside pole alongside Mike Chaffee. Duhaime claimed the lead by the end of lap one and set fire over the rest of the field. Duhaime would only have to defend the lead on one restart when Josh Sunn made hard contact with the front stretch wall. From there the heavy hitters simply didn’t have enough time to mount any challenge to the young gun.
The remaining podium positions were filled with the Matczak stable’s driver Kevin Chaffee and the Miller stable driver Dean Christenson. Adam Whitney, with his best performance of the year, claimed fourth and Tim Gallant completed the top five.
