King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series Notes & Info

Round 15 at Reno Tahoe Fernley Speedway 2013 King of the West Logo Tease

Fernley, Nevada – Saturday August 10

What:

For the fourth time this season the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series will be in action at the Reno Tahoe Fernley Speedway in Fernley, Nevada on Saturday night August 10. It will mark round 15 in the season long fight for the KWS crown and is held in conjunction with Hot August Nights weekend in Reno.

With six events left in the 2013 campaign Sacramento’s Kyle Hirst holds a commanding 55-point lead over second place Jonathan Allard, as he continues his search at a first King of the West 410 championship. The 25-year-old Hirst has tallied 11 top-five finishes in the 14-events held thus far while driving the Roth Enterprises No. 83jr. Sprint Car.
The last time the King of the West 410’s competed at RTF Speedway it was Hirst picking up the win after a late race pass of Auburn’s Richard Brace Jr. Overall this season the second generation driver has scooped up three KWS wins and will be gunning for number four on Saturday in Fernley.
Looking to keep Hirst out of victory lane on Saturday however, is sure to be his brother-in-law Willie Croft, who has been the most consistent driver in the first three outings at Reno Tahoe Fernley Speedway. The veteran driver of the Tri-C Machine finished runner up to Hirst in July and brought home a pair of third place finishes during the double-header in May. Croft last Saturday had a great night going in Stockton, until getting upside down on the opening lap in the feature.
Another driver that has shown immense speed at the Reno Tahoe Fernley Speedway has certainly been Fresno’s Craig Stidham in the KRC Safety No. 3 mount. The former Rebel Cup 360 Series Champion has scored a pair of top-five finishes at the 3/8 mile dirt oval this year and has also earned a BR Motorsports Fast Time Award. Stidham will be someone to look at on Saturday, as he guns for his first King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series victory of the season.
Grass Valley’s Jason Statler is coming off another strong night and will be searching to break his way into King of the West 410 victory lane this Saturday at the Reno Tahoe Fernley Speedway. The 2004 Golden State/King of the West 410 titlist has claimed top-five finishes in three of the last four KWS events held aboard his familiar DF Rios Motorsports No. 00 machine. Statler currently rounds out the top-five in the King of the West 410 Series standings going into Saturday.
Other drivers set to tackle the lightning fast 3/8 mile oval will include 13-time series champion & Hall of Famer Brent Kaeding, Carl Droivold, Doug Gandy, Chad Compton, Geoffrey Strole, Pat Harvey, Bud Walberg, Danielle Simpson, Mark Tabor Jr., Mike Monahan, Rusty Baglin and more.
When:

The pit gate at the Reno Tahoe Fernley Speedway will open up at noon, with the front gate for spectators opening at 3pm. Racing is anticipated to get underway around 7pm with cars hitting the track just before 6pm. The pit gate at the Reno Tahoe Fernley Speedway will open up at
