Back in action at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Willie Croft saw a strong start to his feature event quickly deflate as he got into a drain in turns one and two, and cut down his left front tire.
“We had an awesome car, and had a really good start to the feature, but we got down a left front again, and lost a ton of track position over the night,” Croft explained.
Going out late in time trials, Croft was able to time his Tri-C Machine/JRI Shocks/NAAKE backed entry in ninth quickest.
A third place heat race effort transferred Croft into the feature, and the ‘0’ pill for the inversion, put him in the fourth row for the 25-lap feature event.
When the race went green, Croft was able to quickly work up into the top-five, but on the third lap, Croft made contact with the drain at the bottom on the first turn, and his left front tire began to lose air.
As the tire went down, Croft slowly began losing positions, as the handling on his entry became extremely difficult, and he just looked to hang on and salvage a good finish.
When the race drew to a close, Croft had slipped beyond the top-10.
“It was a frustrating feature for sure,” Croft said. “I opted to stay out, and not go to the back, but it got really tough to drive, and ended up losing a ton of spots. I have to thank all my guys for working so hard all week, and now we will look ahead to the Ocean Speedway this weekend.”
The Tri-C Motorsports team would like to thank Tri-C Machine, JRI Shocks, NAAKE Suspension, Holey Smokes BBQ, The Christian Stover Foundation, ButlerBuilt, Arai, Brown and Miller, Sander Engineering, FK Rod Ends, Hinchman Indy, Schoenfeld, K&N, Smith Precision Products, A.R.T., Kaeding Performance, Dan Olson Products, Vortex Wings, AIC Powdercoating, and GUTS for their support in 2013.
