A busy two race weekend is shaping up for the Rislone URC Sprint Series with stops at the Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night, August 23 followed by a stop at the Port Royal Speedway on Saturday night, August 24. On Friday night, the MACH 1 Chassis URC/358 Challenge is expected to bring together the best of URC against the top running 358 sprints of Williams Grove along with the addition of a few 410 drivers who will chase the $2,200 to win 25 lap URC feature event.
One other activity going on at Williams Grove Friday night is a Silent Auction to benefit the family of Kramer Williamson. An icon is sprint car racing, Kramer Williamson lost his life in a sprint car crash just two weeks ago. The silent auction will take place outside the infield tunnel in turn one. Items of interest for drivers, owners and racing memorabilia for race fans will be open for bidding starting at 5:30 PM. All proceeds will go to the Williamson Family. Friday night at Williams Grove, the Williamson Family will also be selling a Kramer Williamson Tribute T-shirt along with a limited number of Pink Panther t-shirts.
On Saturday night, the Rislone URC sprints will make their one and only stop at the Port Royal Speedway, always a favorite stop for the URC competitors. The well prepared Port Royal racing surface provides for some outstanding sprint car racing. Last year, Ryan Wilson upset the URC gang by winning the 25 lap feature at the Port. URC competitors will chase in excess of $21,000 for the two race weekend.
Mach 1 Chassis maintains a large inventory of open wheel parts and accessories at their Mechanicsburg, PA shop. They inventory enough parts and products to assemble a complete race-ready roller. Mach 1 fabricates many parts in-house as well as serving as an authorized dealer for many of the sports leading manufacturers. If they don’t have it, Mach 1 will get it for you! The Rislone URC Sprint Series point chase is shaping up to be quite a contest heading into the remaining eight point race events. JJ Grasso and car owner Ken Eldreth sit atop the point chase. Grasso holds a 107 point advantage over Davie Franek who finished runner-up in the 2012 URC point battle. Josh Weller, URC’s “wild child” is third in driver points and just 30 points behind Franek. Grasso is a former URC Champion as Franek and Weller are looking for their first URC Championship. For the URC Owners Championship, Kenny Eldreth is on top of the list and looking for his first URC Owners Champion along with runner-up Car Owner Dave Franek Sr and third place in owner points Chris Weiss. Franek and Weiss are also looking for their first URC Owners Championship.
A big two race weekend is planned for URC in Central Pennsylvania August 23rd and August 24.
