Back in action at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Willie Croft overcame a lap one spin to rally through the field and score a sixth place finish aboard his Tri-C Machine/JRI Shocks/NAAKE backed No. 3c.
Hitting the high-banked ¼ mile, Croft was quick early, as he was able to time his Holey Smokes BBQ/Chirstian Sto
ver Foundation/ButlerBuilt backed entry in third fastest, putting him in the third row of his heat.
Able to carve his way from sixth to fourth in his heat, Croft lined up in the fourth row for the 25-lap feature event.
On the opening lap of the feature, Croft got into a bit of trouble as he got into the infield, and his car hooked, and he spun out, forfeiting his top starting position.
At the back of the pack, Croft got his elbows up, as he began picking off cars at will, on his march to the front.
Running both the top and bottom of the speedway, “Double Down” was able to put his machine anywhere he needed to as he rallied back to a sixth place finish.
“The start of the race I got into the infield and it caught and spun around on me, and put us to the back of the field,” Croft said. “From the back we were pretty good, and were able to get back up to sixth. I think without the mistake we have a top-three car.”
