Fernley, Nevada – September 11, 2013…Former two-time Golden State/ King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series champion Tim Kaeding has had arguably the best season of his career in 2013, having captured the second most World of Outlaws wins of the year as of press time. With that said Kaeding is set to make his 2013 KWS Series debut on Saturday at the Reno Tahoe Fernley Speedway in Fernley, Nevada.
The San Jose, California wheel-man claimed his eighth and ninth World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series victories of the season in Oregon during the recent “Gold Rush Tour” and is coming off a third place finish on Sunday night at the Antioch Speedway. The fan favorite ranks second in all-time Golden State/ KWS wins, with 60 to his credit since he began his Sprint Car career back in 1996. The only driver with more is his father Brent Kaeding, who has raced to 84 all-time triumphs.
Kaeding is in his sixth consecutive season driving for well known car owner’s Dennis & Teresa Roth and has been on the road for much of the season. Last year he scooped up six King of the West Sprint Car Series wins and helped Roth Motorsports earn their second straight owner’s title at seasons end. This Saturday will also mark Kaeding’s first ever appearance at the Fernley based 3/8 mile oval and as always, should be worth the price of admission.
With five events left in the 2013 campaign Kaeding’s teammate Kyle Hirst holds a 55-point lead over second place Jonathan Allard, as he continues his search at a first King of the West 410 championship. The 25-year-old Hirst has tallied 11 top-five finishes in the 14-events held thus far while driving the Roth Enterprises No. 83jr. Sprint Car.
The last time the King of the West 410’s competed at RTF Speedway it was Hirst picking up the win after a late race pass of Auburn’s Richard Brace Jr. Overall this season the second generation driver has scooped up three KWS wins and will be gunning for number four on Saturday in Fernley. Hirst last Sunday in Antioch scored a fourth place finish against the traveling World of Outlaws.
More top-10 drivers in the KWS standings expected on Saturday will include Chico’s Jonathan Allard, Sacramento’s Willie Croft, Fresno’s Craig Stidham, Grass Valley’s Jason Statler, Campbell’s Brent Kaeding, Grass Valley’s Carl Droivold, Oakhurst’s Doug Gandy and Fair Oak’s Chad Compton.
