After announcing that he would no longer be the driver of the Heffner Racing No.27 at the end of the season, Lance Dewease went on to score a third place finish at the National Open at the Williams Grove Speedway over the weekend showing car owners across the country that he hasn’t lost a step.

“Friday was a miserable night for us, but it felt great to come back on Saturday and run well, and be up front,” Dewease said.

With 62 cars checked in on Saturday night, Dewease timed his Lelands.com/Conduit Connection/Pasquirello’s No.27 machine in sixth fastest putting him in the first heat.

Starting third in his heat, the Fayetteville, PA driver was able to finish third, giving himself a transfer to the A, but a spot in the ever-important Dash.

Starting and finishing fourth in the Dash, Dewease lined his Pro Shocks/Wings Unlimited/Brown and Miller backed entry up in the second row of the feature event.

Moving into the third spot when the race went green, Dewease had a front row seat to Steve Buckwalter, and Fred Rahmer battling for the lead.

After Rahmer grabbed the lead for good on the 14th lap, Dewease was able to get past Buckwalter himself to take over the second spot, as he worked the bottom, trying to keep pace with his long-time friend.

As the laps wound down, Dewease went to the top of the speedway to see if he could gain any ground, but the bottom was the place to be, and Daryn Pitman got underneath him late, and Dewease settled for a third place finish.

“I’m extremely happy for Fred Rahmer,” Dewease said. “I told him a couple weeks back that if I couldn’t win it, I hoped he could in his final attempt. I have to thank all of my guys for their work tonight, it is great to run well against the World of Outlaws at home.”

Friday night 63 cars checked into the Williams Grove, and Dewease timed in 41st quickest.

A ninth place finish put him in the C main, and he was able to race from fourth to second to transfer to the Last Chance Showdown, where he lined up in the 18th spot.

Dewease put on a heck of a charge through the field, as he carved his way up to the seventh spot, missing the feature event.

“We raced well in the C, and the B, on Friday night, but qualifying killed us,” he said. “Saturday night we did a much better job, and again, I can’t thank my guys enough for their efforsts.”

Dewease would like to thank Lelands.com, Conduit Connections, Pasquirello’s Auto Shop, Pro Shocks, Wings Unlimited, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Keizer Wheels, DMI Racing Components, Schoenfeld Headers, Hanks Performance Products, FK Rod Ends, Viper Venom fuels, ATL Fuel Cells, Schaeffer Racing Oils, Astro Titanium, Tom Shockey Collision, Kirkey Racing Seats, Michael Graphics, Valley Forge Inc., Bell Helmets, WRT Web Designs, and WRT SpeedWerx for their support.
