Port Royal, PA – (January 20, 2014) –With nearly 30 dates about to be released on the 2014 Port Royal Speedway schedule of events, over 25 of them will include the high-flying Aumiller’s Insurance 410 sprint cars.
And the first of those more than 25 events is coming up as the season opener on Saturday, March 15 at 6pm when the winged sprints are joined by the super late models in the lidlifter.
The River Valley Builders 305 sprint series will be returning to the track in 2014 as well and will consist of 10 races at the track this season, spanning April through October.
The 305 series will again be highlighted by the third running of the Blue Collar Classic Keystone RaceSaver Sprints interregional challenge races on Columbus Day weekend, October 10 and 11.
The historic oval recently announced the return of the World of Outlaws 410 sprint cars to the track on October 25 for the first time in a decade.
But that show ends the season.
Before the outlaws race in October, the track will be visited three times by the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprints, for both the late April Bob Weikert Memorial and again for the September Tuscarora 50 races.
The wingless 410 sprint super stars of USAC will make their third ever appearance at the track in 2014, in early June as part of the series Eastern Storm tour.
First put on the schedule last year, the Fallen Heroes Championship for 410 sprints will again be the highlight of the Memorial Day weekend Saturday program, featuring fireworks.
It will be just one of nearly 10 races at the track this season that will use qualifying time trials to set the lineups.
The Pennsylvania Speedweek series will hit the track twice this season, first on Thursday, July 3 and again two nights later on July 5.
And the now customary Living Legends Dream Race Honoree Night with an innovative main-event format for the sprinters will again be held on the first Saturday of August.
Back by popular demand will be another round of Open Wheel Madness featuring three prime open wheel sprint divisions, namely the 410 sprints, URC 358/360 sprints and 305 sprints, in late August.
And the 410 sprints will of course be on hand and in top form for four shows during the annual Juniata County Fair, spanning Labor Day week in early September.
As usual the sprints will help open the fair on the night of the Butch Renninger Late Model Memorial on August 30 before returning for the nostalgic Labor Day afternoon classic and the two-day, September 5 and 6 Tuscarora 50 events to end the fair.
And that will set up the star-studded season finale at the track as the World of Outlaws return to the oval on October 25, preceded by a tune-up event on October 11.
The 2014 slate also includes nearly 20 shows for the super late models along with numerous shows for the newly created 355 econo-late model division, replacing the pro stocks in 2014.
Formerly called the “enduro dash” division, several races are also planned for the newly named xtreme stocks.
The full Port Royal Speedway 2014 schedule of events will be released within the next seven to 10 days.
