Knoxville, IA — (February 13, 2014) — Historians Eric Arnold and Bob Wilson will be at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum on Thursday, February 20, to discuss their 304-page book entitled “Knoxville Nationals: The First 50 Years.” The book was released just prior to the 43rd Knoxville Nationals in August of 2013 and it is nearly sold out. The program is free and open to the public, and it is the second “Sprint Car 101” of 2014.
According to museum curator Tom Schmeh, “I look forward to hearing from Bob and Eric about their book and the years of research that went into putting it together. But, I also want them to talk about the publishing end of the process, as the technology today appears to be letting more and more people self-publish history books. How easy is it today to publish a book on some aspect of sprint car racing?”
The book features one chapter on each year of the Knoxville Nationals sprint car championship from 1961 through 2010. It includes race summaries, results, black & white photos and color photos. The book is dedicated to Knoxville Raceway promoters Marion Robinson, P. Ray Grimes and Ralph Capitani. The foreword is written by Schmeh.
