It was a premature end to the latest round of the KRE Sprintcar Series at Archerfield Speedway last Saturday night for Danny Reidy due to engine failure.
After qualifying a strong third out of the 26-car field in time trials, Reidy took his place in his opening heat race, starting from the back of the field: position eight. He was charging his way through the field and quickly moved into second. Once in second and looking to reel in the leader, disaster struck, when the NQ # 5 Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs supported Maxim suffered engine failure.
“We made a very strong start to the night, but the engine failure brought our run to a premature end in our opening heat race,” commented a disappointed Reidy. “Prior to the engine blowing up, I hadn’t noticed any signs whatsoever that the engine wasn’t running OK; it just went bang, and it was all over from there.”
The Reidy Racing team will now have the weekend off, where they will replace the blown engine, and then return to the track on Saturday night, March 29, at Archerfield Speedway for the 12th round of the KRE Series.
Reidy Racing would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, Downs Tinting & Signs, P&M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Pipes and Inglis Race Engines, for all of their 2013-14 season support.
