Statler Rebounds For Ninth Place Finish

– In the midst of a very strong run during the King of the West opener on Saturday night, Jason Statler spun to avoid of a wrecked car while running in the fourth spot, and was able to march his way back up to a ninth place finish.

“We have had some pretty good speed to start the year, and were happy with some things that we learned running with the Outlaws, and then we just found ourselves in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Statler said.

With 31 cars on hand for the long awaited KWS season opener, ‘The Big Guy” timed his DF Rios/Amerikote/Riley Collins Auto Body No. 00 entry in 15th fastest, putting him on the front row of his heat.

With heat winners going to the ultra important Dash, Statler got the win, and earned the Dash berth, where he found himself lining his SCI/Kaeding Performance/Yak Graphics entry up in the sixth spot, before he finished in the seventh position.

The 30-lap feature event saw Grass Valley, CA’s own line up in the fourth row, and when the race got underway, he was able to pick up a few spots, as the opening laps were slowed with countless caution flags.

Action finally heated up following a lap-six restart, and Statler was on the move as he moved into the fourth spot, and began chasing after Kyle Hirst and Willie Croft who were ahead of him, and in shouting distance.

Bad luck bit Statler on the 18th lap, as he got on the binders hard to avoid a crashed car, and doing so, he spun his machine out, and was forced to restart from the tail end of the field.

With 12 laps remaining, Statler remained cool, calm, and collected as he navigated around the extremely slick surface, as he clawed his way back into the Top-10, and ultimately the ninth spot at the line.

“We really had a good car in the feature event,” Statler said. “Mark and the guys have worked so hard to get us going in the right direction, and even though we didn’t finish where we wanted, we have some positive to take with us next weekend.”

Friday night saw Statler and his team take on the World of Outlaws for one final time this Spring, as they took to the dirt at Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA and finished in the 19th spot.

Jason Statler would like to thank DF Rios Motorsports, Amerikote, Riley Collins Auto Body, SCI, Kaeding Performance, Yak Graphics, Factory Kahne Shocks, Ultra Shield, Rod End Supply, Santomauro, Stephanie’s Custom Interior, and Nevada City Auto Service for their continued support.

ON TAP: Jason and his team will now head to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the second rough of KWS action.
