(Lebanon, IN) Fans of pavement midget racing are familiar with the name Kyle Hamilton. On Sunday April 27, the 2009 USSA Midget Series Champion will introduce himself to pavement sprint car fans at the Glen Niebel Classic at Anderson Speedway in the Sprint Car Challenge Series Built by the UAW.
Hamilton will be making his debut run in a pavement sprinter owned by Jerry Powell. Hamilton is looking forward to strapping on Powell’s Beast powered by a Kercher built engine.
“I’m thankful Jerry is willing to take a chance on me. I like to consider myself a pavement specialist, so a race like the Glen Niebel Classic is right up my alley,” Hamilton explained.
Hamilton has won on the paved tracks in every type of car he’s competed in, starting with his family owned Kenyon Midget, followed by Gregg Steele’s Championship winning Ford Focus Midget and then in full midgets. Hamilton went on to say “As a midget driver, I’m sure there will be a little bit of a learning curve that comes along with getting in a car with twice the horsepower; but, with a solid team behind me I have no worries that we’ll be competitive by race time.”
Many of Hamilton’s successes in midget racing came on the high banks of Anderson Speedway. “Anderson is a great track and I’ve had success there in the past and I can’t wait to go back”
