– MESQUITE, Texas (April 29, 2014) – Travis Rilat will return to action during the ASCS Gulf South Region doubleheader this weekend.
Piloting the Richard Saumure No. 39c sprint car, Rilat will tackle Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas, on Friday before wrapping up the weekend at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas, on Saturday.
“I’m looking forward to racing at both tracks for the first time this season,” he said. “We’ve ran well at Golden Triangle and at Battleground in the past and I’d anticipate that we will be in contention both nights this weekend.”
Rilat placed eighth last season in his most recent race at Golden Triangle Raceway Park and he scored a victory at the quarter-mile track in 2009. He also recorded runner-up performances in 2010 and 2011.
“We’ve been close to winning there the last few years,” he said. “It’s a high-banked track where a lot of things can happen in a hurry. It makes for a great show for the fans.”
Rilat has earned a feature victory each of the past two seasons at Battleground Speedway and he has notched at least one top-five finish for four consecutive years at the 3/8-mile oval.
“This sounds like a perfect weekend to keep those streaks going,” he said.
