Attica, OH – (May 30, 2014) – Dale Blaney made his 20th career victory at Attica Raceway Park extra special by winning against best of the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series. Blaney led a contingent of Ohio drivers that swept the podium. Blaney took the lead from Dean Jacobs and held on through several late race restarts for the victory.

“First five or seix laps I thought we were going to be terrible, but the car got better as we went,” said Blaney. “Hats off to Tony Kennedy, George , Donny, Skippy, we have had a great start to the year. Hopefully we can keep it going this summer. Is aw the 09 in third, and I was happy to see the 97 in front of him with three to go. For all of us to be up here in the top three it’s pretty neat. “
Dean Jacobs led the initial start from the pole until several cars went off the race track after Caleb Griffith spun with Cap Henry and Travis Philo upside down to bring out the red flag. Steve Kinser also stopped up against the retaining wall. Griffith initially kept under fire but went to the work area during the red flag stoppage. Kinser and Griffith restarted while Philo and Henry retired from the event.

The second attempt to start the feature saw Jacobs lead with Saldana coming out of a three wide battle for the runner up spot. Jacobs pulled away from the field with Saldana trying to keep pace during the opening six laps until Griffith spun to bring out the caution flag on lap seven. During the caution flag James McFadden went to the work area relinquishing the 12th position and did not make it out of the pit area for the restart. Griffith also did not make it back on track for the restart.

Jacobs chose the inside lane for the double file restart held the lead while Madsen challenged Saldana for Second. Behind them Dale Blaney moved passed Cody Darrah for the fourth spot on lap 12. Jacobs continued to pull away from the field to over a 1.5 second lead over Saldana by lap 15 as he approached slower traffic.

By lap 19 Saldana, Madsen, and Blaney raced for second as Darrah drove off the top of the race track and dropped back. As Jacobs was mired in lapped traffic his lead was reduced to under one second. Kerry Madsen took second from Saldana with a big slide job with Blaney involved as well. Saldana took second back one lap later before they went three wide with Blaney moving to second on lap 27. Blaney then began to run down Jacobs for the lead.

With 26 laps complete Jacobs was mired in lapped traffic with Blaney all over his back bumper. Blaney kept working Jacobs and took the lead with 10 laps to go. Meanwhile the local faithful saw Craig Mintz move up to fourth after starting 13th.

Maden’s stellar run came to an end after getting sideways in turn two to bring out the caution flag. During the restart when Cody Darrah flipped hard off turn three with Brian Lay also involved. Kerry Madsen also went to the work area during the red flag period.

After the restart Dean Jacobs and Craig Mintz raced for second at Blaney pulled away from the field until Steve Kinser brought out the caution flag with three laps to go. Just as the caution flag came out Joey Saldana went pitside with a large amount of smoke coming out of the car.

During the single file restart Blaney pulled away as Mintz moved around Jacobs for second. Mintz could not catch Blaney though as he claimed his second career World of Outlaws feature at Attica Raceway Park. Mintz, Jacobs, Brad Sweet, and Donny Schatz came from 24th starting position to fifth.
