Macon, IL — (June 3, 2014) — IHOP drops the green flag on a fabulous night of racing at Macon Speedway Saturday, when the faster pastor race is renamed the B.G. Nevitt Memorial and the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series makes its return to the legendary dirt oval.

Nevitt will be remembered as Faster Pastor Night is renamed in his honor. The event’s defending champion, Nevitt was a popular civic leader and senior pastor at Glad Tidings Church in Decatur who passed away last summer. He was active with the Decatur Police auxiliary, Macon County Sheriff Department and other civic groups. He was also known for blessing the motorcycles each year. Leaders from area churches will race in four-cylinder stock hornets, so come out and cheer on your favorite pastor.

The POWRi midgets head to Macon during the Illinois Speed Week, when the series makes four stops in four days. POWRi hits Quincy Raceways Thursday and Lincoln Speedway Friday before the stop at Macon Speedway Saturday and concluding the run at Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville Sunday. With the four races in four days, POWRi will run a single feature in each class at Macon Speedway Saturday. The double features from an earlier rainout are scheduled for Aug. 16 at Macon Speedway. The POWRi outlaw micros will battle with the local stars in the Beach House Mini-Sprints division.

As part of a month-long promotion, IHOP will distribute coupons for redemption at 1280 E. Pershing Road in Decatur during each night of racing at Macon Speedway in June. With the purchase of one entrée and two drinks, the second entrée is free, so IHOP gets the racing into gear in an action-packed month. IHOP will also distribute the coupons during each night of racing at the famed fifth-mile high banked speedway during the month of June. When visiting the IHOP on East Pershing Road, ask your server for a $2 off coupon to Macon Speedway. It’s good for general admission during June.

Gates open at 5 p.m. Racing starts at 7. Children 11 and under are free.
