From Greg Parent, UMSS Media Director
As the first-ever cooperative effort between the UMSS and JSTS quickly approaches, racers and fans are making plans to attend one, two or all three events later this week from June 26-28. The UMSS sprints will run for the first time ever in the state of Iowa this Thursday night June 26 at the Cresco Speedway. On Friday night June 27, the UMSS will make their inaugural appearance at the Redwood Speedway in the first UMSS vs. JSTS show which features a full Minnesota Mafia point fund race. Concluding the three race tour on Saturday June 28 will be a full JSTS point show at the Jackson Speedway with the JSTS vs. UMSS Round 2 which is also a full MN Mafia point fund series event.
The Cresco Speedway event will be held during the Howard County Free Fair. It is a full UMSS point show with heats, challenge races and a 20 lap feature event on tap. Support divisions at Cresco include B-Mods, Stock Cars and Hobbies. Pit gates will open at 5:00 pm, hot laps are scheduled for 6:45 pm, and racing will get underway following hot laps at around 7:15 pm. UMSS rules will be in effect, but no license fees are required and injector stack restrictors will be available for use for no charge.
The Redwood Speedway will see their pit gates open at 4:30 pm, grandstands will open at 5:30 pm, hot laps are slated for 6:15 pm, and racing will follow at 7:00 pm. Support divisions at Redwood include the IMCA Racesaver 305 sprints and the mini-mods. The mini-mods will run on the smaller track inside the big track. UMSS rules will be in effect which means heats, challenges and a 20 lap feature race for the sprints. Again, no license fees are required to race and injector stack restrictors will be available for no charge. This is a full UMSS point show while JSTS cars receive show points only. As mentioned earlier, it is a full Minnesota Mafia point fund event.
The Jackson Speedway JSTS show will be a full JSTS and MN Mafia point race with JSTS rules and race procedures in effect. The Jackson event will see pit gates open at 4:00 pm, hot laps scheduled for 6:30 pm, and racing to get underway at 7:00 pm. Support divisions at Jackson will be B-Mods, Stock Cars, Hobbies, Hornets and the micro sprints. The micros will run on the smaller track inside the big track. UMSS cars will receive show points only.
Come on out to one, two or all three winged sprint shows this coming weekend in northeast Iowa and southwest Minnesota. Hopefully some of the wet weather from the past couple of weeks will subside and we can get all three races in. Each race will pay $1,200 to win and $200 to start thanks to some help from GRP Motorsports on Thursday and Friday. GRP Motorsports also has a Clean Sweep Bonus Award of $900 in place should any driver pull off the difficult task of winning all three features. If a driver wins two out of three, GRP will still pay a $450 bonus. The Minnesota Mafia have a press release out highlighting their bonus awards during the three race tour as well.
