Atlanta, GA – July 3, 2014 – Due to the need to re-schedule some of the dirt events that have been rained out recently, the United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters has made the following change in the July racing schedule: The USCS Road to Atlanta paved track event originally scheduled at Anderson Motor Speedway in Anderson, South Carolina on July 11th and 12th has been postponed two weeks until July 25th and 26th. This event will be the final USCS “Road to Atlanta” qualifier for the USCS Sprint Car Shootout event at Atlanta Motor Speedway on August 29th.
The Anderson Motor Speedway two-day event will include two full nights of USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters winged sprint car racing with time trial qualifying, the Hoosier Speed Dash, heat races and a www.rockauto.com USCS sprint car main event each night. Johnny Bridges from Cherryville, North Carolina won the April 25th USCS event at Anderson Motor Speedway earlier this year.
The Anderson Motor Speedway date change has eliminated the previously scheduled USCS sprint car event at Watermelon Capital Speedway on July 25th and 26th. A possible replacement date for the Watermelon Capital Speedway event is under consideration.
The Anderson Motor Speedway two-day event is entitled as the AMS/USCS Asphalt Summer Nationals. In addition to the USCS sprint cars during Friday night’s Round One, the event will feature the popular NASCAR Late Model Stock division plus stock car racing in four divisions and the Legends Cars series. Round Two on Saturday night will feature the championship rounds for the USCS presented by K&N winged sprint cars plus the finals in four weekly stock car divisions and the Legends Cars series.
The Atlanta Motor Speedway USCS Sprint Car Shootout event is part of Atlanta Motor Speedway’s NASCAR Labor Day weekend event. During the August 29th event all of the practice, time trial qualifying and heat races on the AMS ¼ mile Thunder Ring will occur in the afternoon. The completion of the event happens that evening with a 50-lap A-Main event contested after the NASCAR Sprint Cup qualifying rounds.
The 2013 USCS Sprint Car Shootout at Atlanta Motor Speedway saw the USCS winged sprint cars compete before over 30,000 race fans and all of the NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup race teams under the lights. California sprint car top gun JoJo Helberg won the 50-lap thriller after passing Brian Gingras from Lakeland, Florida, who led the first 48 laps, with two laps to go.
