– Jonathan Allard put together another strong weekend with his Tri-C Motorsports team as they picked up their sixth win of the season Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, and were well on their way to a podium finish with the King of the West Series until a wild incident on the final corner resulted in Allard crossing the stripe in the ninth spot.
“We were really good all weekend, and the ninth place finish on Saturday is not a reflection of the night we had,” Allard said.
Setting the standard during qualifications at the 360ci event at the Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night, Allard went on to finish second in heat race action, putting him in the night’s redraw.
The two pill put Allard on the front row of the feature event, and after leading the first lap, Steven Tiner would get around him, putting Allard into the second spot, though he did not let Tiner get away from him.
In the midst of thick traffic, Allard saw an opening and went for it, as he re took the top spot from Tiner on the 12th lap, and went on to win his 53rd career feature event at his home track.
“It was great to get back to the Silver Dollar Speedway and get a win,” Allard said. “It is good for us to get as many laps as we can there, as the Gold Cup will be here before we know it, and that is something I really want to win.”
Saturday night saw Allard and his team head to the Placerville Speedway to resume action with the King of the West Series.
Pacing the ultra-fast quarter mile with the second fastest lap during time trials, Allard would then finish third in his heat race, locking himself into the dash.
By way of his dash win, Allard earned the pole for the feature event and led the field to green, but it was Sean Becker getting the jump with Allard riding in the second spot for the first two laps, until the caution flew.
The lap two restart saw Allard now grab the lead, as he laid down brilliant laps as he ran away from Becker who had bean feeling his own pressure.
Getting into lapped traffic in a hurry on the high-banked ¼ mile, Allard continued to lead until the caution flew on the 14th lap.
The restart saw Allard get on the throttle hard, but he ‘wheelied’ up and allowed Brent Kaeding to get past, as he soon felt pressure from Andy Gregg for the second spot.
Slipping to third on the 18th lap, Allard continued to keep the lead duo in his sights until the red flew with just 10 laps to go.
The restart did not go Allard’s way and he lost a few spots, and ran in fifth, until the caution flew again with just three laps to go.
Getting into the fourth spot, Allard battled with Jason Statler on the last lap, when race leader, Brent Kaeding, half spun in front of the field, and as cars took action to avoid contact, Allard got shuffled back to the ninth spot when the dust settled.
“We were much better than a ninth place car,” he added. “We had some restarts not go our way, but we had plenty of speed and we were in the hunt. All of us are looking forward to getting down to Tulare this coming Saturday night for the Peter Murphy Classic.”
Allard would like to thank Tri-C Manufacturing, K&N, ButlerBuilt, Platinum Powder Coating, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Red Line Oil, KSE Racing Products, Weld Wheels, NGK Spark Plugs, FK Rod Ends, Hunt Magnetos, Longacre Products, Ti64, A.R.T.
