The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series returns to the “hill” on Tuesday night, July 29 with round two, a spectacular double-header that will find the 410 Sprints and Race of Champions Modifieds on the same program. This wildly popular event will offer a $25 adult admission with children 6-11 $10 dollars and children 5 and under admitted for free. As a special thank you to our competitors, the back gate will be $30 and a license is not required. All this racing with a purse of nearly $50,000 will take place at the Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA on Tuesday night, July 29. Gates will open at 5 PM with race time set for 7:30 PM.
In the July 2013 running of this event, Greg Hodnett won the 410 sprint feature as Duane Howard charged home the winner of the sixty lap Race of Champions Modified feature. On July 1 of 2014, this same event was presented and Hodnett and Howard once again earned their place in the Grandview Speedway victory lane. So the question remains, can Hodnett and Howard make it three in a row?
Under the NAPA Auto Parts banner, the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series will present the Race of Champions 17th Annual Modified TRAFFIC JAM plus the 410 Sprints. The modifieds will battle in a sixty lap contest with the sprints going 35 laps. Both features will pay $5,000 to the winner. Past winners of the Modified TRAFFIC JAM include Duane Howard, Danny Johnson, Jeff Strunk, Craig VonDohren, Tim Fuller, Brett Hearn, Billy Decker, Alan Johnson, Tim McCreadie, Frank Cozze and Jimmy Horton.
Advance tickets are now on sale for the Tuesday, July 29 event. Tickets may be ordered by calling 443 513 4456. Please provide you name, phone number and the number of tickets you need. Tickets may be picked up and paid for on race night after 3:30 PM. Advance ticket holders may enter the grandstands at 4:30 PM, one half hour prior to general admission tickets going on sale.
The Thunder on the Hill Racing Series will once again offer pre-race pit tours for the spectators. Upon your arrival at the track, please sign-up for the pit tours just inside the front gate. Groups of ten spectators will get a walking tour of the pits, meet some of your favorite drivers before the race and get an up-close look at the race cars before they engage in battle on the one-third mile Grandview Speedway. Spectators are required to sign up and you will be required to wear an orange safety vest when you are inside the pits. Also, the Inside/Out Promotion will take place, offering race fans an opportunity to view warm-ups from inside turn four. It’s a great view and you will actually feel the ground shake as the 410 sprints take the green flag. There is no charge for this activity, but you are required to sign up at the main gate. Don’t forget, when the races are over you are invited to visit the drivers in the pit area.
Don’t forget, Joe the Pizza Dude will make an appearance as well as the Thunder Girls. Numerous give away items will be tossed to the crowd to include T-shirts, Koozies, Frisbees, pictures. Spy on Ms. Motorsports Cassi Pinder and her date, Gregg Malta – along with five of his friends – as they enjoy a romantic pizza dinner as part of our ‘Win a Date with Ms. Motorsports’ contest. The date takes place at the Grandview Speedway on Tuesday, July 29
Jay Dugan, Director of social media for Thunder on the Hill will also have a created activity that could win you a pair of tickets to the Saturday, September 13 44th running of the Freedom 76.
