After getting off to a rough start with the King of the West Series in 2014, Jonathan Allard has hit his stride over the Summer months as the Chico, CA driver picked up his third series win of the season by way of his exciting win on Saturday night in Stockton, CA after an exciting battle with Willie Croft.
“I can’t thank Randy V, Eric, and the Lamar family for sticking behind me and working so hard,” Allard said. “Things have been really good this summer, and we want more.”
With 22 cars on hand at the Stockton Dirt Track, Allard timed his Tri-C Manufacturing/K&N/Redline Oil No. 3C machine in eighth fastest, putting him in the second heat.
Finishing in the second position, Allard would line up in the fifth row of the 30-lap feature event, and as things went live, Allard found the high-side to his liking on the picture perfect racing surface.
Going three wide with cars at times, Allard found himself in the second spot, as he raced wheel-to-wheel with Willie Croft, and Carson Macedo, as the trio of drivers chased after Bud Kaeding.
Searching the speedway for a way around Kaeding, Allard finally got the opening he sought, and took the top spot in thrilling fashion, with Croft following him to the front.
With the caution flying on the 24th lap, and issue during the attempted restart forced a single file restart.
When the action went green, Allard got the jump, but Croft hung right with him, as the duo began a dogfight for the top spot.
With Croft and Allard both exchanging multiple slide jobs lap-after-lap, Allard was able to fend off the furious charge, picking up his third win of the season with the series, and 39th in his career.
“That was an exciting race, and I hope all of you fans enjoyed that,” Allard said. “We are getting hot at the right time, and with some big races coming up, it is just the right time to be peeking.”
