A week after earning Hard Charger at Port Royal’s Dream Race, Lance Dewease returned to the Port Royal Speedway and thrilled the crowd as he picked up his fourth win of the 2014 season.

“It is just awesome to get back here and win an exciting race like that,” Dewease said. “It was fun battling with Ryan Taylor, and Doug Esh like that. I am glad that we came out on top.”

Getting into the second spot when the race came to life, Dewease quickly erased Taylor’s comfortable lead as he closed up on him in a hurry, after letting him get away on the start of the race.

Patently waiting to make his move, Dewease jumped to the lead on the fourth lap aboard his C.C. Dietz Builders/Conduit Connections/Hess Ornamental Iron backed No. 14 machine, as Taylor stayed close behind.

Getting into traffic on the 11th lap, Dewease got bottled up behind a group of slower cars, and Taylor retook the top spot, but it was short lived as Dewease answered the call on the 13th lap, and took over the top spot.

The red flag flew with 11 laps to go, and Dewease continued to hold the top spot, though action was heating up behind him. Following a restart with just two laps to go, Esh threw a text book slider on Dewease getting into the first corner and took the lead, but as the duo came to take the white flag, Dewease got the lead back and went on to pick up the popular win.

“That was exciting,” said Dewease, who picked up his 97th career win at the speedway. “We had a couple of late cautions that I hated to see, but they sure created an exciting finish.”

Friday night at the Williams Grove Speedway, Dewease lined up in the ninth row for the feature event, but on the fourth lap, Dewease lost the handle on his machine, and spun to a stop forcing him to tag the rear of the field.

Dodging a pile up on the restart following his caution, Dewease settled into a groove, as he methodically worked his way through traffic around the historic ½ mile in Central PA.

With the waiving of the checkered flag, the Fayetteville, PA driver had rebounded to an eighth place finish.

“We were just okay at Williams Grove on Friday,” he explained. “We struggled early, and then after the spin settled in and made up some ground. It was great to pick up a couple of Top-10’s including a win.”
