Tulsa Oklahoma (August 28, 2014) – Brian McClelland’s second victory of the season last week at the Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore gave XXX chassis their fifth victory in Oil Capital Racing Series competition this season and thus they move to within one victory of a tie for the chassis manufacture lead in wins with Eagle Motorsports who has six main events on their resume. In this week’s Sprintdudes.com Manufactures Performance Rankings chassis category, Eagle continues to lead in MPR points with a 57-45 edge over XXX.
XXX was only able to shave one point off Eagle’s lead as Eagle pilot Gary Owens stormed back in the main event after causing a early yellow, restarted in the rear of the pack and sliced his way through to finish in the runner-up spot. Coming from his 12th place starting spot earned Owens the AmeriFlex Hose & Accessories Hard Charger award.
Andrew Deal scored points for the third week in a row for A.R.T. Chassis with a third place finish at SOS. That finish gives A.R.T. a tie for third in the standings with the F5-Twister chassis. Maxim Chassis still holds onto the second spot in the rankings.
In the engine builder class, rankings leader STK Racing Engines earned points for the 5th straight event due to Alex DeCamp’s fourth place run at SOS. STK has parked their wares in victory lane in 3 of the last 5 OCRS events. McClelland’s car owner is Kelly Fode who builds his own creations. Fode’s bullet not only won last week, it placed in second the week before thus only coming one point short of a 2-week perfect score. Fode power also took over third in the rankings over Wesmar Racing Engines but only by 2-points (25-23) Only Allen Racing Engines has multiple wins (2) besides STK and Fode.
The next event for the OCRS sprint car travelers is a wingless affair this Saturday night at the Osage Casino Caney Valley Speedway in Caney Kansas.
MPR points are awarded on a 5-4-3-2-1 point scale based on the top five A-Feature finishers. Only the highest finishing result per manufacture in the chassis and engine categories per event are awarded MPR points. For example, if brand X has two or more cars in the top five of the A-feature, MPR points are only awarded to the highest brands finisher for each category.
