The United Rebel Sprint Series will make one last visit this year to the RPM Speedway in Hays Kansas this Saturday Aug 30th. This will be the fourth visit this year for the Rebels at the 3/8 mile semi-banked oval.
The previous three visits have produced three different winners as Steven Richardson scored his only victory of this season on June 14th, Luke Cranston drove to victory on the qualifying night of the Wheatshocker Nationals and Jake Bubak took top honors in the finale collecting $2000 for the win.
With only 3 races remaining for the Kansas regional championship, Colorado’s Jake Bubak leads Steven Richardson with Zach Blurton a close 3rd, Luke Cranston 4th and rookie Jed Werner rounding out the top five.
The rookie battle for the Kansas region is a tight one with Werner and Jeremy Huish within ten points of each other. This race will also give Werner the needed amount of races to make their points battle a tight one for the National Rookie of the Year points battle also.
After a strong performance from both Werner and Huish last weekend at the High Plains Nationals in Colorado they are both looking to be contenders for their first URSS feature win. Huish led all but the last 4 laps as Bubak took the win with Werner relegating him to third on the last lap. This will be a very important race for both rookies.
Several Colorado cars are also planning on making the trek to Kansas this weekend to meet up with the Kansas regulars.
Races start at 7pm on Saturday night. The race will also be broadcast live on racinboys.com for those who can’t attend.
