Lebanon, IN — (October 9, 2014) — When the Sprint Car Challenge Series built by the UAW and the Mel Kenyon Midget Series arrive at Anderson Speedway on Saturday the focus will be on the championship races. Cole Fehr holds a slim 55 point lead over his closed midget competitors while Chris Neuenschwander clings to a 36 point lead over Jason Fuller.
The point lead in both series is so slight that by the time qualifying and the heat races are over each series can have a new point leader going into the feature event.
The wild cards in Saturday night’s race are Travis Young and Aaron Pierce. Young is the 2013 Mel Kenyon Midget Series Champion and an acknowledged pavement racing ace. He already has four wins in 2014,. Like Young Pierce is the 2013 Sprint Car Challenge Series Champion. In 2914 he won 3 races at Anderson. For 2014 Pierce has had some bad luck in addition to competing in various series. Young also ran pavement midget races outside of USSA.
Should Young and Pierce race true to their form at Anderson, they may pick up points that can make or break championship dreams. Race fans can rest assured that the racing at Anderson on Saturday night will be close and hard fought with the championships and pride on the line.
