Somerton, AZ — (Nov. 24, 2014) — Cocopah Speedway is thrilled to announce there will be a points fund for drivers competing in the inaugural Winter Heat Sprint Car Showdown.
Thanks to partnerships with Cometic Gasket, JE Pistons and K1 Technologies, the driver who earns the most combined points from the races – Jan. 2-3, Jan. 6 and Jan. 9-10 – will receive a $4,000 bonus with drivers finishing second through fifth each taking home an extra $1,500.
“We are very excited to have Cometic Gasket, JE Pistons and K1 Technologies on board to help with the Winter Heat Sprint Car Showdown,” Cocopah Speedway Director of Operations Greg Burgess said. “Those companies have a rich history in racing and it will be great to have them involved in this event, which we hope to build on year after year.”
The four weekend races – Jan. 2-3 and Jan. 9-10 – each pay $12,000 to win and $1,000 to start with the midweek race on Jan. 6 providing $5,000 to the winner.
“We have a great purse for the five races, but we wanted to add a bonus,” Burgess said. “I’m happy that we can offer a points fund for the top five.”
A driver will earn points throughout heat races, qualifying races and main events during the five events. A competitor must attempt to race in all five Winter Heat Sprint Car Showdown races to be eligible for the points fund.
Tickets are available for sale online by visiting http://www.CocopahSpeedway.com. Additionally, anyone who purchases a ticket by Dec. 1, 2014, will receive a free fan pit pass from 2-5 p.m. on that race date.

SPEED SPORT Productions will be broadcasting live Pay-Per-View video of the Winter Heat Sprint Car Showdown for $27.95 per night or a special all-access pass of $99.95 for all five nights (good only through Dec. 15).
