Lebanon, IN — (December 5, 2014) — For the sixth straight year the United States Speed Association will open its racing season on the high banks of Anderson Speedway. The Mel Kenyon Midget Series will contest its first race of 2105 on Saturday April 11. The Sprint Car Challenge Series Built by the UAW traditional opener, The Glen Niebel Classic takes the green flag on Saturday April 25.
The April 25 Sprint Car Challenge Series event will mark the 1st time the USSA sprint cars will team up with the ARCA/CRA Super Series. The move to Saturday night from the Niebel’s traditional Sunday afternoon slot will give the race fans an opportunity enjoy a double header featuring non-wing sprint cars and late model stock cars on the same program.
“We’re excited to double up with the ARCA/CRA Super Series on April 25,” commented Eric Bunn of USSA. “Anderson Speedway is offering a great night of racing for fans to enjoy and we’re sure the stock cars fans will enjoy our brand of short track excitement,” Bunn explained.
The Mel Kenyon Midget Series opener at Anderson Speedway has featured three different winners in the previous five events. Nick Hamilton and Travis Young have each picked up two wins, while Spencer Bayston earned the top spot for his first win of 10 in his record setting 2013 season.
The Sprint Car Challenge Series will also see action at Anderson Speedway at the 67th Pay Less Little 500 on May 23 and October 10. The Mel Kenyon Midget Series will also race on the high banks on May 20, June 13, August 1, and October 11. USSA officials expect to announce the complete 2015 racing schedules the week of December 15.
