Ohsweken, ON — (January 13, 2015) — The 2015 racing schedule for Ohsweken Speedway was officially released on Tuesday. Racers will hit the track for the first time in 2015 with a Test & Tune Night scheduled for Friday, May 8, while the season concludes with the 11th annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals on Saturday, September 19.
The schedule features 22 events, beginning with the 20th annual Opening Night on Friday, May 15. All weekly racing events at the speedway will begin at 7:30p.m. again in 2015. Regular weekly racing events will include 20 lap features for the Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Cars and Affordable Towing & Recovery Thunder Stocks, 15 lap features for the Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars and HRW Automotive Mini Stocks, and a 12 lap feature for the Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers.
Four marquee events highlight the schedule, including the inaugural running of the Triple Crown Showdown on Tuesday, June 30. The new event will include the Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified Series and Go Nuclear! Late Model Series competing at Ohsweken for the first time, with the Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Cars joining the show, along with Twin 15 lap features for the Affordable Towing & Recovery Thunder Stocks.
Northern Summer Nationals night is scheduled for a Monday again this year, with DIRTcar 358 Modifieds joining the Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Cars, Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars, and HRW Automotive Mini Stocks on July 27.
The “Greatest Show on Dirt” returns to Ohsweken on Tuesday, July 28 when the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car series will contest the 9th Annual Six Nations Showdown, joined by the Affordable Towing & Recovery Thunder Stocks, and Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers. The track will be closed on Friday, July 31, following the Northern Summer Nationals and Six Nations Showdown events.
The 11th annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals weekend will include the Kevin Ward, Jr. Young Stars Challenge, the Dave McLeod Memorial Shootout, and Twin 15 lap features for 360 Sprint Cars during the Night Before the Nationals on Friday, September 18, plus the Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars, and HRW Automotive Mini Stocks, while Saturday, September 19 will feature the $12,000-to-win CSCN 360 Sprint Car event, plus Affordable Towing & Recovery Thunder Stocks.
Ohsweken’s weekly Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Car competitors will take on some of the best teams in the northeast in 3 challenge events this season, with the Patriot Sprint Tour visiting on June 19, the Southern Ontario Sprints on July 3, and the Empire Super Sprints on August 7.
Three special memorial events also highlight the schedule, including the inaugural Frankie Turkey Memorial Night on July 10. Turkey brought a young Glenn Styres to the races each summer, making an impression which started his nephew down the path which eventually led to the creation of Ohsweken Speedway. The 4th annual Brock Leonard Memorial 50 for Affordable Towing & Recovery Thunder Stocks is set for July 17, and the 16th annual Art Hill Memorial 42 for HRW Automotive Mini Stocks will be run August 14. The TUSA Canada West Mod Lite series will also be on the schedule on Art Hill Memorial night, while the Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bombers have that night off.
The Sportsman Shootout returns for a third consecutive season, with the DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds headlining the show on Friday, June 26, while the Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Cars have the night off in preparation for the Triple Crown Showdown.
The Duel on the Dirt series being run in conjunction with Brighton Speedway, Merrittville Speedway, and Humberstone Speedway includes three Affordable Towing & Recovery Thunder Stock events at Ohsweken, with 20 lap Home Track events on July 10 and August 28, and a $1,000-to-win 50 lap event on September 11.
UMP Modifieds will return to Ohsweken for the first time since 2009 and headline the show on September 11 along with the Duel on the Dirt series event, with Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars, HRW Automotive Mini Stocks, and Vintage Modifieds also on the card. The Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Cars have that night off to get ready for Canadian Sprint Car Nationals weekend.
“Christmas in July” on July 24, and Canadian National Autism Foundation “KidsRace” Night on August 21 will both include Autograph Nights.
Tickets are already on sale for the Triple Crown Showdown, along with season passes, pit memberships, and pit passes.
